📅 May 22, 2002 - Managed services provider Loudcloud Inc. (Loudcloud.com) announced on Wednesday that it has introduced three new features of its Opsware automation technology, designed to help keep e-businesses safe from common security vulnerabilities.

As part of the company's recently announced Managed Services 3.0, says Loudcloud, the new security features are designed to minimize the risk of human error or malicious activity, providing fast and consistent vulnerability prevention, detection and response. Opsware, says Loudcloud, automates manual tasks such as installing patches, auditing systems for typical vulnerabilities and setup and configuration of security monitoring systems.
Patch management, says Loudcloud, has become one of the biggest challenges facing online businesses as a result of the proliferation of worms, viruses and vendor-announced vulnerabilities, leaving many organizations fighting to keep up with the latest security risks.
Loudcloud's Opsware automation technology now includes a patch management system, which automates the patch detection and deployment process; a server security auditing system, which performs an automated, 40-point go-live security inspection on every server prior to deployment; and a security monitoring system powering Loudcloud's Host-Based Intrusion Detection Services, which for malicious activity at the host level around the clock.
