May, 2002 : GlobalSCAPE Partners for Web Content Management
📅 - Content management solution developer GlobalSCAPE Inc. (globalscape.com) announced on Friday that it has signed a technology license agreement with Hannon Hill Corporation in order to develop a Web content management product.
Under the terms of the agreement, GlobalSCAPE, developer of the popular CuteFTP software, says it will have exclusive worldwide rights to create derivative works for the Microsoft Windows platform based on Hannon Hill's SuperUpdate software. GlobalSCAPE says it will develop a number of proprietary enhancements in building a Web content management product to be sold under its own brand.
"GlobalSCAPE's strategy includes the development of an entry-level Web content management product," says GlobalSCAPE CEO Tim Nicolaou, "which empowers contributors from various disciplines within a company to directly control corporate Web site content, reducing the reliance on technical personnel. Securing this license is an important milestone in the execution of our strategic plan and will allow us to bring our product to market faster."
GlobalSCAPE says it chose the Hannon Hill technology because it provides browser-based access, allows users to make changes without knowledge of HTML and does not rely on application servers. SuperUpdate won the "Best of Show" Award in the Design Category at Spring Internet World in April 2002.
"The synergy between GlobalSCAPE's established brands," says David Cummings, president and CEO of Hannon Hill, "including the well-known CuteFTP product line, coupled with its large customer base and usability design expertise makes this relationship a great match."
