Jun, 2002 : Rackspace Launches Proactive Managed Hosting Unit
📅 - Rackspace Managed Hosting, a provider of managed Web hosting services, today announced the launch of Intensive Hosting (intensive.com), a new wholly owned unit that will provide proactive managed hosting services on the Microsoft platform.
Rackspace said its new division would take aim at companies like Digex, which specialize in providing proactive, high-end managed Web hosting services to larger companies.
Intensive Hosting, the company said, would offer a fully managed, proactive solution for at least 21 percent less than other competitors.
According to Rackspace, which already houses more than 1,500 Microsoft deployments, Intensive Hosting was built in response to increasing demand from larger enterprises for hosting services in Microsoft environments.
"Many businesses prefer to stay in control of their Web applications and do not want to pay a hosting company for services they do not use," said Graham Weston, Rackspace's chief executive officer. "Intensive Hosting has cracked the code to delivering proactive managed hosting of complex Web sites at a lower cost by focusing on the essential managed services and by supporting only the Microsoft platform."
Founded in 1998, Rackspace manages over 5,500 servers for customers in more than 80 countries. The company maintains locations in San Antonio, Texas and London.
