Dec, 2002 : Credit Valley Hospital Employs IBM Storage

📅 - E-business service provider IBM Canada Ltd. (ibm.ca) announced on Friday that it has implemented a centralized storage solution for the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, providing faster response times for clinicians seeking vital patient information, including large diagnostic image files.

Currently serving more than 200,000 patients a year, and expected to double in size during the next five years, Credit Valley chose to implement an IBM SAN solution in order to ensure the highest possible levels of patient care through the period of growth.
The solution, says IBM, is built around the "Shark" Enterprise Storage Server and is designed to grow along with the hospital. SANs simplify backup, increase security and free up computing resources and data attached to servers or applications, says IBM.
IBM Global Services implemented the hospital's new storage system, which includes IBM Enterprise Storage Server (Shark) Model 800 with 8TB of capacity. Also integrated into the hospital's infrastructure are SAN Fiber Channel Switches, IBM NAS 300G Model G26 gateway and a 3584 Ultrium LTO UltraScalable Table Library for centralized data backup.
"The Credit Valley Hospital is becoming what IBM calls an 'on-demand business,'" said Kyle Foster, storage sales executive, IBM Canada Ltd. "IBM's Storage Area Network is helping Credit Valley respond to the variable and time-sensitive needs of its medical staff. We are helping to connect disparate technologies across the hospital with easier to manage systems that respond quickly and can grow painlessly."
