Jun, 2003 : Limelight to Host New Jersey Devils' Team Site

📅 June 17, 2003 - Limelight Networks (limelightnetworks.com) announced yesterday that it has taken over as the Web hosting and content delivery provider for the New Jersey Devils official National Hockey League team Web site. The transition took place over the course of a few days, with Limelight taking the site live just before game six of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 6, 2003.

According to the company, Limelight was selected to ensure optimal delivery support and availability under high volume conditions. "With the Stanley Cup in play, the Devils needed an IP delivery partner that had the capacity and network availability to handle heavy traffic loads as well as the expertise to ensure a quick, seamless turn-up,? said Limelight Networks CEO Bill Rinehart. ?They sought us out based on our reputation and performance with other NHL teams like the Phoenix Coyotes."
The New Jersey Devils' Web site will be hosted at Limelight Networks? data center in Tempe, Arizona.
?We are very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of the Limelight Networks team," said Glenn Adamo, vice president of the New Jersey Devils. "They were willing to step in and ensure this important connection to our fans remain operational at a very critical time. The site performance was outstanding under heavy traffic loads."
NewJerseyDevils.com is also using Limelight Networks' MediaEdge streaming services to serve game recaps, interviews and highlight videos. Delivery is available in multiple formats including Windows Media, MP3, Quicktime, Shoutcast and other streaming protocols.
Limelight Networks is a Phoenix-based provider of IP delivery solutions.
