IBM Cloud Now Available through Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace

Ingram Micro now offers IBM Cloud infrastructure through SoftLayer in the U.S., with plans to expand the offering to additional Cloud Marketplaces worldwide, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Mexico, Netherlands, the U.K. and more.

Recognized as the backbone of the IBM Cloud portfolio, IT analysts identify SoftLayer as a leading cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider, offering a high-performance cloud delivery model that includes bare metal servers, virtual servers, storage, security services and networking. 📅 - Virtuozzo Has New CEO - George Karidis, a veteran of the web hosting industry, has been named the new CEO of Virtuozzo. Karidis has been a familiar face in the industry for sometime. Before joining Virtuozzo on Tuesday, Kardis was president of Cloud Technology Services at CompuCom, served as chief strategy officer and chief operating officer at SoftLayer, and also worked with IBM.

“I knew a lot of the team already, and they were a big partner when I was at SoftLayer,” Kardis recently said in an interview. He is replacing interim CEO Mike Riolo, SVP Worldwide Sales who has been filling the role ever since Rob Lovell left Virtuozzo in the summer.

📅 - US Lifts Sanctions, while IBM Softlayer Blocks Services - IBM SoftLayer recently blocked all IPs coming from Iran. This was found in a report by VentureBeat and the ban impacts customers, such as Cafe Bazaar and Elix-Tech.

📅 - IBM Softlayer Blocks Services in Iran After U.S. Sanctions Lift - IBM SoftLayer, a major player in the cloud data storage industry, has blocked all Iranian IPs from accessing the services.

The existing compliance process for foreign countries at IBM states that IBM must block services in countries and territories not complying with standard outlined procedures. The process also states that services will be unblocked if the content isn't banned under current sanctions.
