Jan 22, 2003 : HP Adds Linux Customers, Products

📅 - Computer systems maker HP (hp.com) said this week that it has made a number of new additions to its portfolio of Linux products and services, as well as a variety of new customers using the company's Linux products.

The new products and customers, says HP, are part of the company's ongoing commitment to the open-source operating systems. HP says it generated $2 billion in Linux-based revenue in 2002.
According to HP, a number of customers have chosen to use the company's Linux-based products and services, including: the California Institute of Technology; Reservoir Technologies; AFP Futuro Bolivia; and Loyalty Partner.
And, building on its existing Linux portfolio, HP also announced a range of products and services, including: HP Linux Workstations; HP Serviceguard for Linux ProLiant Cluster; HP blade servers; HP's Linux Academy; and the HP channel program.
"HP's focus and investment on industry standards-based Linux products and services better serves our customers and differentiates us from the competition," said Peter Blackmore, executive vice president, HP Enterprise Systems Group. "As businesses increasingly move away from proprietary platforms for Linux, HP continues to lead the market by offering more choice to address customer needs and further distances itself from its competitors."
