Since Volusion made the move to their in house data center in 2009 there have been frequent outages and major problems which the company simply ignores. Page load speeds are the slowest in the industry. The biggest issue is that due to their lack of knowledge the Volusion in house data center continues to restrict the ability to checkout due to something they have done to avoid Denial of Service Attacks. The same problem also limits traffic to the sites. The concern was called to their attention in March of 2010 and over and over again. They always deny it but it still continues today. Forum members describe a faucet being turned either off and on. Regardless of the reason the restriction impacts a site’s ability to make money. Affiliates complain; customers call phone centers with error messages during checkout. The speed issues reduce ranks in Google's search results. Nothing works as advertised on the feature list. It is just hype. Fixing a bug is considered a feature request instead of a technical support issue. Features request are never implemented. In 2007 without warning or discussion they decided to change the entire file structure meaning that if you spent thousands of dollars customizing your site content you wasted your money. New releases are hyped with terms like shock and awe and then there is nothing new but more bugs. At this point it is clear that Volusion is on the path to failure. When the CEO brags about upgrading customer support as if it was a done deal in the middle of a technical support nightmare the writing is on the wall. The two main guys have a death ear. Run don't walk away from Volusion. If a web design firm tries to sell you Volusion go somewhere else. They just do not want to learn a new platform or like they enjoy their reseller fees. If you see a favorable post for Volusion I assure it is either a plant or a reseller. So in short I wish I could say something positive but there is nothing positive about Volusion anymore.
