Beware! I share this horror story so that you can be saved from the torment that I went through. Back in the winter of 2001/2002 it was post September 11th and my start-up NYC based business desperately needed a boost. So I looked to find a cheap web-host with enough bandwidth to build a web business on. The features that were advertised for that price were impressive, but I never fully received them. I had been enthusiastic about placing my website with these people as I thought this company was filled with good people because they allegedly support a charity for eating disorders, but closer to the truth is they gave me something of an eating disorder.
I liked the pricing and the control panel but after the first couple weeks almost every time I visited my business website it was down. I was overly patient with them to reply for several weeks, but they never responded, and finally when they did reply after the first month was over, they said it was too late for a refund, and I found out that there is no real recourse under the current international law system to put pressure on them at all. I just didn't expect this kind of treatment right after 9/11. For the past six years I have worked for others, I had to abandon my business even before that long year passed and the lifeless website expired.
As a final salt to the wound they offered to renew my domain name at a higher than expected rate, and informed me that they had full ownership of my business domain name. My business domain name was locked up for several years with this $#*@ company. But perhaps they are not entirely evil perhaps they are merely inanely inconsiderate of first time web hosting businesses. Perhaps their slogan should be "host once and you'll never want to again."
After this experience I only host by American companies, so at least I know that they have some measure of fear for the law to keep them in line.
Maybe in the past six years these guys have improved since then, but I never heard back from them with any sort of refund or even verbal apology for damaging my business income so I cannot recommend them to anyone. From their website it is hard to tell if they are still Australian based or are now at their mailing address in NC, if you can figure this puzzle out then maybe you can deal with them. If you give them a try, then do it at your own risk. I've done my civic duty and warned you.
