Good Prices, Excellent Support, Aging Software
I have 1 domain with host.co.in and I decided to move because my current hosting solution sucks (net4.in, I'm talking about you). I needed a better provider with servers in India (management's decision) and this severely limited my options.
I chose host.co.in because they have a DC in India and also saw that they offer features (IMAP, 100 emails per domain) at prices that matched US based providers.
I was unsure at first but decided to bite the bullet and moved one of my domains to these guys. Since it's been just a month, my review may not give a complete picture. Just so that I am fair, I will be comparing my first month with host.co.in against the first month I experienced at my previous provider.
First the negatives:
* I was concerned that their hosting platform is old (Win 2003, old Plesk CP, etc.) but had very little choice, given my requirements.
* Still rough around the edges:
TOS is an unformatted word doc,
customer login link on their main page is in an obscure corner,
no direct link from the billing link to the control panel
* Initial experience did not give an impression that it was professional
* Antivirus was disabled by default when creating email accounts (why?!?)
* You require SMTP authentication (that's good) but don't mention this in the CP, or anywhere else (inconvenient)
Now the positives:
* MOST IMPORTANT: Services running as they should! Mail, website work well. I am now using mail. as my mail server. instead of false.net4india.com (yes, that's what net4.in makes you use)
* No downtime with any of the services till date
* Very good support. I had Faisal, the account manager, hand holding me through the setup, domain migration all the way till I was up and running
* After the teething problems were gone (mostly related to setup), I haven't seen any issue from my users.
In short, I would recommend them for their pricing, features and support for anyone how needs hosting located in India.
