Zonnet is a long-established Dutch Internet brand dating back to 1999, originally known as a consumer ISP and free Internet-access service. Gert Post ran Zon Nederland NV during its formative 1999-2004 period. After several ownership changes, Zonnet now operates as a trade name of InterNLnet B.V., which is owned by ITEQT (iteqt.com). The present operation is therefore very different from the dial-up Internet provider many Dutch customers may remember.

An important part of its more recent history concerns the long-running @zonnet.nl and @versatel.nl mail services. Part of these legacy e-mail activities moved from Tele2/T-Mobile to InterNLnet in 2020, while ITEQT later acquired InterNLnet, Zonnet, Versatel and Vuurwerk Internet from T-Mobile. Another consolidation followed on October 1, 2025, when HostingDiscounter (hostingdiscounter.nl) was merged into Zonnet. Zonnet serves more than 43,000 customers, while the wider ITEQT group handles more than 200,000 customers across its portfolio.

The present product range is centered on Domain Registration, Shared Website Hosting, E-mail Hosting, VPS and SSL Certificates. It is primarily a conventional Dutch hosting provider rather than a hyperscale cloud platform, with services geared toward individuals, small businesses and organizations that want hosting, domains and e-mail managed under the same account.

Website Hosting consists of four shared-hosting levels, from Hosting M through XXL. Storage ranges from 1 GB to 25 GB, monthly traffic from 25 GB to 500 GB, mail storage from 2 GB to 75 GB and mailbox allowances from 5 to 100. Hosting M includes one MySQL database, while the larger packages support unlimited databases. FTP access, PHP, CGI, DNS management, subdomains, URL forwarding and website statistics are included. The environment works with common CMS applications such as WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.

Customers can adjust PHP settings, create subdomains and aliases, manage DNS, inspect resource usage and configure e-mail authentication through the account interface. Cron jobs are also possible, although assistance may be needed for configuration. SSH access is not available on shared-hosting accounts, which makes the platform less suitable for developers who depend on shell access, Git-based deployment or direct server administration.

The present shared-hosting lineup is based on Linux hosting. Technical documentation also covers Windows-specific behavior such as ASP and ASPX index files, but Windows hosting is not part of the standard published shared-hosting price range. Customers who specifically require Windows hosting should confirm availability before ordering.

Backups are performed daily for crash recovery and full-server restoration. Restoring an individual website from those system backups can require additional work and may involve extra charges. Customers remain responsible for keeping suitable copies of their own data unless a separate backup service has been arranged, so the server-level backup system should not replace independent customer backups.

E-mail Hosting is one of the stronger parts of the service. Packages provide 2 GB, 5 GB, 40 GB or 75 GB of storage and between 5 and 100 mailboxes, with unlimited aliases. Features include webmail, IMAP, POP, SMTP, forwarding, catch-all addresses, auto-replies, fallback mail handling, spam filtering, antivirus protection, SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Webmail remains especially relevant for long-standing Zonnet and Versatel users, although new @zonnet.nl and @versatel.nl addresses are no longer issued.

Domain customers can register a broad range of extensions and receive nameserver management, DNS management, URL forwarding and e-mail forwarding. More than 160 extensions are available, covering common Dutch and international TLDs, so Zonnet can be used both for a single local domain and for larger international domain portfolios.

A VPS can also be ordered, although it is handled through the sales and support team rather than through a fixed self-service catalog. CPU, RAM, storage, virtualization and bandwidth configurations are therefore quotation-based instead of being organized into standard VPS packages.

SSL options include DV, OV, EV, Wildcard and multidomain certificates. Certificates can be installed automatically on compatible Zonnet hosting during the order process. Provisioning generally ranges from about one working day for DV validation to as much as 15 working days for EV or multidomain certificates.

The service is primarily Dutch-language and products are priced in EUR. No multi-language/localized version exists. Prices can be viewed excluding or including VAT, although the main hosting price tables normally use amounts excluding VAT.
