*📜 Plan description
Virtual Edge provides VPN-style edge access into Zenlayer's private global backbone without requiring customers to deploy their own physical edge infrastructure. It can connect branch offices, remote users, clouds, SaaS platforms, data centers, and private applications through IPSec Tunnel, SSL access, or GRE Tunnel options. IPSec is appropriate for branch and cloud connectivity, SSL is useful for distributed workforce access, and GRE can support larger bandwidth scenarios up to 2 Gbps. The service can accelerate SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, Office 365, and Zoom through NAT gateway access and private backbone routing. High availability features include redundant routing, failover, real-time monitoring, alerts, blacklisting, and whitelisting. Pricing is custom because it depends on tunnel type, bandwidth, gateway location, connected sites, and term.
Zenlayer network services use a private global backbone, cloud onramps, edge points of presence, and local ISP relationships to deliver lower latency and more predictable routing than ordinary public internet paths. The platform spans more than 50 countries, 300 plus edge nodes, over 300 cloud onramps, more than 10,000 global peers, and a network capacity above 220 Tbps. Services are controlled through zenConsole and APIs, with usage, routing, service lifecycle, and billing centralized in the in-house platform. Configurations can be scaled quickly and may use pay-as-you-go or subscription-style terms depending on the product, region, and commercial agreement. Use cases include hybrid cloud, multi-cloud interconnection, regional expansion, last-mile acceleration, content delivery, private backbone transport, enterprise branch access, and application performance improvement in markets where public internet quality is inconsistent. Support is available continuously through technical channels, and billing is handled in USD with credit card, Paypal, AliPay, and wire transfer available for account balance refills. Services are generally non-refundable after purchase unless service-credit terms apply under the relevant SLA.

📄 Editorial Review
Zenlayer is a Los Angeles-headquartered distributed cloud, edge compute, cloud networking and AI infrastructure provider founded in 2014 by Joe Zhu. The company is not a classic shared hosting provider built around cPanel accounts, budget domains and entry-level website hosting. Their strongest area is enterprise infrastructure for businesses that need low-latency compute, private networking, application acceleration, global content delivery, cloud on-ramps, AI inference capacity and edge colocation across many international markets.Zenlayer’s portfolio includes Bare Metal, Elastic Compute / Virtual Machines, Distributed Inference, AI Gateway, Fabric for AI, Cloud Connect, Cloud Router, Private Connect, Virtual Edge, Global Accelerator, CDN, IP Transit, Edge Colocation, and custom AI infrastructure services. This makes them more relevant for enterprises, gaming platforms, SaaS providers, CDN/cloud businesses, media companies, AI companies, blockchain infrastructure projects and organizations expanding into regions where latency and network quality matter.
Their Bare Metal service provides dedicated servers in more than 60 cities across 50+ countries, with Intel Xeon Scalable processors, SSD/NVMe storage, up to 384 GB RAM, 1–25 Gbps NIC options, public IPv4/IPv6 allocation, API access, Terraform support and zenConsole management. It is a strong fit for dedicated workloads, edge compute, high-performance applications, gaming backends, private infrastructure and latency-sensitive deployments.
Elastic Compute / Virtual Machines is the virtual server side of the platform, available in 20+ countries with hourly and monthly billing options. It works as a cloud VPS-style service, but with a stronger edge-networking and global-performance profile than ordinary VPS hosting. Features include security groups, virtual firewall functions, local ISP blends, dynamic routing and access to Zenlayer’s global network.
AI infrastructure has become one of Zenlayer’s most important directions. Distributed Inference supports GPU infrastructure for real-time AI workloads, including NVIDIA RTX 4090, H100 and H200 GPU options, plus preinstalled AI environments such as Ollama, Stable Diffusion and Llama. Fabric for AI focuses on private, high-speed connectivity between GPU clusters, models, datasets, cloud environments and edge inference locations. AI Gateway adds centralized model access, routing, failover, observability, encryption and centralized billing for organizations using multiple AI models globally.
The networking portfolio is especially strong. Cloud Connect, Cloud Router, Private Connect and Virtual Edge are built for private connectivity between clouds, data centers, branches, SaaS tools and corporate networks. Zenlayer supports direct cloud connectivity and cloud on-ramps involving providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Alibaba Cloud. For companies with complex multi-cloud or cross-border requirements, this is one of the most valuable parts of the platform.
Zenlayer also provides Global Accelerator, CDN, IP Transit and Edge Colocation. Global Accelerator improves application performance through optimized routing, private backbone access, security functions, monitoring, load balancing and source protection. The CDN product is aimed at global content delivery, while IP Transit provides high-performance internet access using a large global backbone, local ISP blends and extensive peering. Edge Colocation is useful where customers need physical infrastructure closer to end users in strategic markets such as Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Turkey and other high-growth regions.
Their website is modern, broad and clearly enterprise-oriented, with an English-language interface and a strong focus on technical buyers. It does not look like an old, limited-width hosting website. The buying process is closer to cloud infrastructure procurement than basic web hosting checkout, so some services require console access, consultation or detailed configuration before the final price is fully clear.
