Z-Host is an independent British web-hosting provider operating since 2002. The business is based in Hampshire, United Kingdom and operates as a trading name of Ian Willis. More than two decades of continuous activity give it a considerably longer history than many small hosting businesses from the same period.

Z-Host remains focused on conventional hosting services rather than modern hyperscale cloud infrastructure. Its main portfolio consists of Shared Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Domain Registration, SHOUTcast Hosting and Auto DJ Hosting. Dedicated servers also remain part of its contractual and server-management framework, although there is no standard current dedicated-server catalog with regular configurations and prices comparable to the shared and streaming products.

The Shared Web Hosting range follows the traditional cPanel hosting model. Nine packages run from Z-100 through Z-10000, with storage ranging from only 100 MB to 10 GB and monthly traffic from 10 GB to 100 GB. The smallest Z-100 account supports one small website, while the higher plans increase storage, transfer and the number of add-on domains. Z-5000 and Z-10000 allow as many as ten add-on domains.

Subdomains, parked domains, email accounts and MySQL databases are not restricted by numerical quotas across the shared-hosting range. Accounts include POP3 and IMAP email, webmail, forwarding, autoresponders, mailing lists, spam and virus filtering, FTP, cron jobs, password-protected directories, custom error pages, CGI-BIN, Perl, PHP, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, website statistics, redundant DNS and an online file manager.

A website-building tool with more than 100 templates is included together with automatic installation for PHP applications. Weekly backups cover website files, MySQL databases and mailboxes, with the previous eight weekly copies retained. Customers can also create and download their own account backups, which is important because independent off-site copies remain advisable for valuable websites.

Storage allocations are modest by current standards. The entry package provides just 100 MB, Z-500 provides 500 MB and even Z-1000 remains at 1 GB. These plans therefore fit lightweight business sites, static pages, small PHP projects and older installations better than media-heavy WordPress websites or modern ecommerce projects with large databases and image libraries.

Software compatibility deserves particular attention. Different parts of the hosting information retain references ranging from PHP 4 and PHP 5 through PHP 5.6, 7.0 and 7.1. These releases are obsolete for new production applications. Anyone planning to run a current WordPress, Joomla, ecommerce platform or custom PHP application should confirm the PHP and database versions actually available on the assigned server before migration.

Reseller Hosting provides considerably larger resource allocations. Eight packages run from ZR-1 through ZR-30, starting at 1 GB of storage and 20 GB of monthly bandwidth and reaching 30 GB of storage with 600 GB of monthly transfer. All reseller packages allow an unlimited number of hosted domains within the overall disk and bandwidth limits.

Resellers receive WHM for creating and configuring individual hosting accounts, while each customer account uses the same general hosting environment available on standard shared plans. This includes PHP, MySQL, email, FTP, cron jobs, backups, DNS management and spam and antivirus filtering. The product remains practical for small designers, developers and agencies already familiar with the cPanel ecosystem.

The reseller platform is much more traditional than newer services built around NVMe storage, CloudLinux isolation, LiteSpeed, integrated WordPress management and automated white-label billing. For customers maintaining older cPanel-based hosting portfolios this simplicity can be an advantage, while agencies expecting a modern managed reseller stack should confirm exactly which server technologies are currently deployed.

Z-Host also has a substantial SHOUTcast Hosting range. Packages are divided by audio bitrate and simultaneous listener capacity rather than disk space or CPU resources. Available combinations extend from 24 Kbps to 256 Kbps and from ten to 200 simultaneous listeners. Traffic is unmetered within the purchased listener limit, making the service suitable for continuous Internet-radio broadcasting without a separate monthly transfer quota.

SHOUTcast customers receive a browser-based streaming control panel with listener statistics, scheduling, relay functionality and station-management tools. MP3 and AAC audio are supported, and setup is immediate once an account is provisioned.

The complementary Auto DJ service allows stored audio to be broadcast continuously without keeping a local computer connected. It can feed either a Z-Host streaming server or another compatible SHOUTcast or Icecast service. DJ-1 provides 1 GB of music storage, while DJ-5 increases the allowance to 5 GB. Audio files and playlists are uploaded and managed through a browser interface.

Internet radio remains one of Z-Host's more distinctive specialties. Some related technical information still refers to older applications and player software such as Winamp, XMMS and Zinf. A new station should therefore confirm current codec, TLS, streaming-server and player compatibility before committing to a production setup.

Domain Registration covers common extensions including .com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .name, .co.uk, .org.uk and .tv. Domain transfers include an additional registration year. WHOIS privacy is available where registry rules permit it, although extensions such as .us, .in, .eu, .uk and .coop are excluded.

Domains registered through Z-Host can use external hosting by changing nameservers, and domains registered with another registrar can be connected to Z-Host hosting. This keeps domain and hosting services independent rather than forcing customers to transfer registration before using a hosting account.

There is an inconsistency in the domain pricing information for .net and .org. One price summary groups .com, .net and .org at £14.99 per year, while the detailed pricing lists .com at £14.99 and .net and .org at £22.49. The final checkout price should therefore be checked before registration or renewal.

The service operates in English. Hosting prices can be displayed in GBP, USD, EUR and CAD, which is useful for international customers despite the company's UK base.

The website retains the compact appearance and navigation style of an earlier generation of hosting sites rather than a modern responsive storefront. That older presentation is accompanied by some legacy technical references and inconsistent software information, so compatibility and current resource details deserve more attention here than they would with a recently rebuilt hosting platform.
