Xelon is a Swiss cloud infrastructure provider headquartered in Zug, serving businesses, software developers, managed service providers and internal IT departments that need their applications and data to remain in Switzerland. The company was established in 2016 as Xelon Hosting GmbH by founder Michael Dudli and later became Xelon AG. Its proprietary Xelon HQ cloud management platform was introduced in 2019.

The company obtained ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications in 2020 and subsequently organized its activities around cloud infrastructure and cloud platform development. Roman Schweizer became CEO in 2025, while Michael Dudli moved his attention toward the continued development of the cloud management technology. In 2026, Cloudpilot AG was created to expand the Xelon HQ technology into a broader European cloud orchestration platform, while Xelon remained responsible for Swiss cloud infrastructure and customer services.

Xelon works with more than 500 customers in over 20 countries. Its services are particularly relevant to IT service providers, SaaS companies, digital agencies and organizations with demanding requirements for data residency, infrastructure isolation and operational support.

This is an enterprise-oriented cloud provider rather than a conventional shared hosting company. The focus is placed on public cloud, private cloud, virtual machines, Kubernetes, cloud backup, infrastructure architecture, migration and managed technical support.

The Public Cloud provides flexible virtual infrastructure with hourly billing and independently scalable processing, memory, storage and networking resources. The Private Cloud is designed for organizations that require dedicated hardware, stronger workload separation, isolated networks and greater control over resource allocation. These environments can be tailored around specific processor, memory, storage, security and redundancy requirements and are aimed at considerably larger infrastructure deployments.

Virtual machines are available with Linux and Windows operating systems. Supported choices include Windows Server and familiar Linux distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS, while custom ISO images can also be deployed. This provides enough flexibility for proprietary business software, application servers, databases, test environments and migrated legacy systems.

The Kubernetes service combines automated infrastructure provisioning with standard Kubernetes administration. Customers receive automated control-plane deployment, persistent storage, private networking, load balancing and access through the normal Kubernetes API. Existing tools such as kubectl can therefore continue to be used without becoming dependent on a completely proprietary container environment.

Cloud backup services cover virtual infrastructure, physical servers and individual workstations. Veeam Cloud Connect is available for broader infrastructure and on-premises backup requirements, while Acronis Cloud Backup supports individual servers, endpoints and applications. Encryption, centralized administration and continuous monitoring are incorporated into the backup environment.

Cloud architecture services cover infrastructure planning, redundancy, security architecture, backup strategies, web application firewalls, vulnerability scanning, network protection and operational monitoring. This is useful for companies that know they need Swiss infrastructure but require technical assistance in turning their security, performance and availability requirements into a workable design.

Migration services support public, private and hybrid cloud projects. Xelon can assess an existing environment, design the destination infrastructure, transfer systems and data, configure security controls and remain involved after the migration. Both straightforward lift-and-shift migrations and more structured infrastructure modernization projects are possible.
