Whois Corp. is one of South Korea’s longest-established internet service companies. Founded in 1999 by Lee Cheong-jong, it began with the country’s first dedicated domain-registration website and gradually expanded into hosting, corporate domain management, business email, groupware, website development, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IDC services. Whois Japan was established in January 2000, extending the business into the Japanese market.

The company works with more than 500,000 businesses and manages domain assets for approximately 150 major Korean corporations. Its corporate-domain division handles portfolio administration, trademark monitoring, brand protection, domain disputes, and the recovery of improperly registered names. Domain management remains one of its strongest areas, supported by an experienced team in which many specialists have worked in the field for more than three years.

Whois became part of Gabia after an acquisition agreement announced in November 2024. The transaction valued the whole company at approximately KRW 20.15 billion, while Whois continued to operate under its established name. The business is headed by co-CEOs Jeong Ji-hoon and Woo Hee-moon.

Its hosting catalog covers Linux cloud web hosting, Windows cloud web hosting, Windows VPS, dedicated servers, server colocation, cloud servers, managed hosting, backup services, load balancing, firewall protection, web application security, and 24-hour infrastructure monitoring. Additional services include domain registration, DNS management, SSL certificates, hosted email, internet fax, NAVER WORKS, Whois Works groupware, video hosting, SMS messaging, website production, custom development, and search-engine optimization.

Shared cloud hosting is organized into Light, Standard, and Premium service families. Linux and Windows environments are both available, with PHP, MySQL, and MariaDB support depending on the selected plan. The hosting environment includes server-level firewall protection, web application security, and a three-stage backup system. FTP connections can be restricted to approved source IP addresses, providing additional protection against unauthorized access.

Windows VPS plans provide isolated server environments in which customers can install and administer their own applications. Database servers, mail platforms, and other software components may need to be configured separately unless management assistance is added. This makes the VPS range more suitable for technically experienced users or companies purchasing an administration package.

Dedicated servers are available through both rental and hardware-purchase arrangements. Basic operating-system installation is normally included, while migration work, advanced application setup, database administration, and ongoing server maintenance can be purchased separately.

The IDC division adds colocation, custom cloud architecture, managed operating-system administration, database management, remote backup, security consulting, endpoint protection, SSL deployment, and hardware or software load balancing. A strategic partnership with Akamai, established in 2024, expanded its cloud-security and content-delivery capabilities.

Whois can also combine website development with hosting, domain registration, SEO configuration, corporate email, and basic maintenance. Its video-hosting platform supports mobile-compatible media delivery, while the SMS service handles business notifications and bulk messaging. The email division includes business mailboxes, large file attachments, spam filtering, authentication controls, and encrypted communication.

The main website and customer interfaces are in Korean, with product prices displayed in South Korean won (KRW). A separate Japanese operation is available through whois.co.jp. A complete English-language storefront does not exist.

The corporate section has a modern responsive layout, but several hosting and IDC services still use older portal interfaces spread across different subdomains. The catalog is extensive, although moving between domains, hosting, IDC, email, and website services can feel fragmented, especially on smaller screens.
