📄 Editorial Review
Web Host Pro is a long-running, independent hosting company, operating since around 2001 and originating from Los Angeles, where two webmasters, James and Charles, decided to build a more reliable alternative to the hosts they were using. The company initially traded as DWHS (Domain Web Hosting Service), became part-owner of a downtown LA data center in 2006, and was later rebranded to Web Host Pro in 2012. Over the years they have grown to tens of thousands of clients and well over a million domains while still keeping an owner-operated structure and a clear focus on transparent pricing with no surprise renewal jumps. The platform is based entirely on Linux and uses a familiar but well-tuned stack: cPanel, LiteSpeed, CloudLinux, Imunify360, Softaculous, plus the SiteJet and SitePad site builders and various WordPress tools. Shared cPanel hosting comes in three simple tiers:
- Solo – entry level, around 10 GB RAID SSD, 1 addon site, 1 MySQL database, a few email accounts and free SSL.
- Pro – midrange, with about 50 GB SSD, up to 5 addon websites and more databases and email accounts.
- Advanced – the top shared tier, around 200 GB SSD, up to 10 addon websites and noticeably higher CPU/resources for heavier use.
All shared plans run on LiteSpeed with CDN hooks, use CloudLinux for account isolation, and include free SSL, Softaculous one-click installs (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OpenCart, Magento, PrestaShop and many others), WordPress toolkit/manager, and access to both SiteJet and SitePad builders. Shared servers are intentionally under-filled: they keep roughly 100–150 sites per server (hard limit around 200) and typically restrict each cPanel account to about 8 WordPress installs, which helps maintain consistent performance.
For agencies and users managing many websites, reseller hosting layers WHM on top of the same stack. The main reseller tiers (Reseller, Advanced R2, Advanced C3) scale from about 20 to 80 cPanel accounts and 100 to 400 addon websites, with 100–300 GB RAID SSD, free SSL, Softaculous, WordPress optimization tools, the same builders, and optional discounted Blesta licenses for billing. This suits designers and small hosts who want to resell hosting under their own brand.
Above shared and reseller, Web Host Pro offers KVM VPS hosting with dedicated resources. Typical VPS presets move from plans with around 2 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, 200 GB disk and 5 TB bandwidth, up to larger "VDedicated" KVM VPS packages with 8 vCPUs, 24 GB RAM, up to 2 TB disk and 25 TB bandwidth, all with full root access and multiple Linux distributions to choose from. cPanel and DirectAdmin are available as paid options. A commonly recommended setup is cPanel plus CSF firewall and Softaculous, with LiteSpeed as an upgrade for sites that demand maximum performance.
For projects that need even more power or isolation, they run managed and unmanaged dedicated servers. Managed servers use Xeon Gold CPUs, RAID SSD storage (roughly 500 GB–2 TB), 12–42 GB DDR4 RAM and 250–400 Mbit connectivity, typically bundled with managed cPanel and AlmaLinux. Unmanaged dedicated servers are cheaper bare-metal machines with root access, 1–5 IPs and SSD or RAID SSD options, starting from around the high-$60/month range and scaling up with more CPU/RAM/disk.
Beyond pure hosting, Web Host Pro puts emphasis on site-building and online-business tools. There is a SitePad website builder with a very low-risk trial (about $1 for 3 months) that includes a free subdomain and then continues at a low monthly fee, clearly aiming to undercut big SaaS builders. They also provide dedicated WordPress hosting plans, an e-commerce builder option, domain registration and transfer, SSL certificates, email services, backups, security add-ons and some SEO/marketing tools.
At the same time, the acceptable-use rules are strict against spam, abuse and illegal content, while allowing legal adult content that does not involve minors or other prohibited topics.
