WebhostingNZ is a New Zealand hosting provider with roots dating back to 2003. The company focuses on affordable hosting for local customers, with servers in Auckland, New Zealand, 24/7 support, shared hosting, WordPress hosting, reseller accounts, VPS, domain registration and standalone email hosting.

The hosting environment is primarily Linux-based and combines cPanel, CloudLinux (cloudlinux.com), LiteSpeed (litespeedtech.com), MariaDB/MySQL, SSD storage, PHP, webmail and one-click application deployment. It is a conventional hosting setup that should suit customers who prefer familiar hosting administration rather than a heavily abstracted cloud platform.

Standard Web Hosting is divided into Economy, WordPress, Basic, Advanced and Delux packages. Economy starts with 1 GB of SSD space for one website, while Delux reaches 50 GB and supports up to 11 websites. Depending on the package, customers receive between two and unlimited email accounts, progressively larger MySQL database allowances, subdomains and parked domains. All packages include unlimited bandwidth, free setup, configurable anti-spam, advanced DNS management, website statistics, a website builder, PHP configuration, cron jobs and phpMyAdmin.

Shared-hosting resource allocations are clearly defined. Economy and WordPress accounts receive up to 2 CPU / 5.6 GHz and 2 GB RAM, Basic rises to 3 CPU / 8.4 GHz and 3 GB RAM, Advanced to 4 CPU / 11.2 GHz and 4 GB RAM, while Delux reaches 5 CPU / 14 GHz and 5 GB RAM. Additional restrictions apply to inode counts, entry processes, total processes, disk I/O and IOPS. These resources remain part of a shared-hosting environment rather than dedicated processor allocations, and sustained excessive resource use remains subject to fair-usage limitations.

Free SSL is automatically installed after the hosted domain points to the WebhostingNZ nameservers. Customers who need a separately issued commercial certificate can also obtain a RapidSSL certificate with a dedicated IP address.

The dedicated WordPress Hosting package includes 5 GB of storage, one website, two email accounts, one database and a 2 CPU / 2 GB resource allowance. WordPress installation is available through Softaculous (softaculous.com), while SSD storage, HTTP/2, free SSL and LiteSpeed provide a solid base for WordPress sites. LiteSpeed Cache can also be used for additional application-level caching.

WebhostingNZ also supports Joomla, Drupal and Moodle hosting. These services use the same general shared-hosting infrastructure, with the corresponding CMS available for deployment through Softaculous. They are practical for customers who need inexpensive hosting compatible with these applications without manually configuring the software stack.

An Enhance Hosting environment is also available alongside cPanel. Enhance provides its own file manager, PHP selection, DNS management, SFTP access and backup/restore functions. The Enhance-Delux package starts at $19.95. Customers should pay attention to the control panel assigned to a new account because cPanel and Enhance use different management interfaces and nameserver sets.

Reseller Hosting starts with Bronze at $25 per month for 10 accounts and 10 GB of disk space. Silver provides 20 accounts and 20 GB, Gold provides 30 accounts and 30 GB, while Platinum provides 40 accounts and 40 GB. Monthly bandwidth increases from 250 GB to 500 GB and 1 TB, with Platinum providing unlimited bandwidth. A Platinum Plus configuration is also available with 40 accounts, 80 GB of storage and unlimited bandwidth.

Reseller customers receive cPanel/WHM, advanced DNS management, CloudLinux, configurable PHP options and daily backups. Silver and larger packages add Softaculous and the website builder, while higher-tier accounts receive broader addon-domain and SSL-management capabilities. Cloudflare integration is also available within the hosting environment.

The VPS range consists of eight configurations starting at $9 per month. Entry-level resources begin at 5 GB of disk space, 64 MB RAM and one CPU, with progressively larger packages reaching up to 8 GB RAM and four CPUs. VPS accounts include unlimited monthly transfer, VNC, start/stop/restart controls, SSH access from the management interface, unlimited operating-system reinstallations, TUN/TAP and full root SSH access.

The largest VPS configuration has an important specification discrepancy: one specification lists 200 GB of disk space, while the active package configuration lists 150 GB for the same 8 GB RAM and four-CPU server. Customers ordering VPS 8 should therefore confirm the current disk allocation before completing payment.

Optional VPS extras include additional IP addresses, CloudLinux, off-server backup capacity and a Softaculous license. These servers are intended for customers comfortable with Linux server administration because full root access provides considerably more freedom, and responsibility, than a shared-hosting account.

Standalone Email Hosting extends the portfolio beyond normal web-hosting mailboxes. E-Small starts at $3.95 with 250 MB of storage and 20 mailboxes, E-Medium includes 500 MB and 35 accounts, E-Large provides 1 GB and 50 accounts, while E-Jumbo reaches 50 GB with unlimited mailboxes. Unlimited forwarding is included, and the service can be used with domains whose websites are hosted through external website-building platforms.

Mail access is available through webmail, with Roundcube as the recommended interface, together with IMAP, POP3 and SMTP. Secure connections support IMAP over SSL/TLS on port 993, POP3 on port 995 and authenticated SMTP over SSL/TLS on port 465.

Domain Names include New Zealand and international extensions. Common .nz, .co.nz, .net.nz and .org.nz registrations cost $35 per year, as does .com, while .net, .org, .info and .club cost $40. Other available extensions include .biz, .me, .co, .kiwi and .tv. Transfers may require an EPP or UDAI authorization key, depending on the extension.

The service operates in English, and no multi-language/localized version exists. Prices are quoted in dollars throughout the hosting and domain catalog.

Some legacy information remains alongside newer package details. An older hosting teaser still mentions plans from $4.95 even though the current Economy package starts at $6.95, and a few product specifications differ between older and newer service information. Customers should therefore use the current checkout configuration when confirming the final resources and billing amount.

A major operational event occurred during April-May 2026, when WebhostingNZ dealt with attack attempts involving cPanel CVE-2026-41940, an authentication-bypass vulnerability capable of creating privileged-access risks. Potentially exposed infrastructure was taken offline and rebuilt on clean systems rather than simply being patched in place, and customer accounts were restored onto clean New Zealand servers.

The recovery affected websites, DNS, databases, PHP configuration and email. Some historical mailbox contents could not be recovered from the available backup system. The incident was reported to the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner within 24 hours, and no evidence of exfiltration of customer files, databases, email contents or other hosted information was identified. At the same time, it was not possible to guarantee that no data had ever been viewed.

The incident resulted in additional attention to zero-day monitoring, emergency mitigation, logging, backup coverage, restore testing and incident communication. It remains an important consideration for customers evaluating the company because the outage and backup limitations were significant, while the decision to rebuild potentially affected systems from clean infrastructure was a sensible containment measure.
