WaveCom is an Estonian cloud, data-center, and hosting provider founded in 2001 by Kristian Liivak. The company operates through AS WaveCom from Tallinn and concentrates on infrastructure services where availability, data sovereignty, direct technical access, and flexible resource allocation matter more than entry-level promotional pricing. Its customer base extends across 87 countries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, while LinkedIn places the organization in the 11–50 employee range.

Kristian Liivak led the company from its foundation until November 2024, when Tõnis Teder became CEO. Liivak remains closely involved as founder and CTO, while the management team also includes board member Andres Kukk, CFO Silver Kesksaar, and information-systems development manager Ranko Murumets.

WaveCom began as a wireless internet provider before moving into telephony, server hosting, and cloud infrastructure. Expansion included the 2014 merger with Tantum Group OÜ, an authorized .ee registrar, followed by the acquisition of TorqHost’s cloud and private-server business. The TorqHost transaction added approximately 800 cloud servers and 50 private servers to WaveCom’s infrastructure.

The current portfolio includes domain registration, Linux shared hosting, KVM VPS, Xen XCP-NG cloud servers, VMware Cloud, disaster recovery, Veeam backup, S3-compatible object storage, Kubernetes, GPU cloud, dedicated servers, colocation, refurbished server sales, SSL certificates, and reseller services. This is considerably broader than the catalog of a conventional shared-hosting company.

Web hosting is delivered from two active/active VMware clusters in geographically separate Estonian data centers. The Entry, Business, and Premium packages include 50 GB, 75 GB, or 100 GB of NVMe storage, together with 2–4 vCPU cores and 2–4 GB of RAM. All packages provide unlimited email and FTP accounts, SSH access, free Let’s Encrypt certificates, daily backups retained for 30 days, multiple PHP versions, Node.js, Ruby, Python, Softaculous, website-building tools, and cPanel.

The security layer combines CloudLinux CageFS, antivirus protection, spam filtering, and Imunify360. A backup hosting environment can take over within approximately 15 minutes if the main environment becomes unavailable. Traffic allowances range from 1 TB to 3 TB per month, and the annual billing option effectively charges for ten months instead of twelve.

The KVM VPS platform is the simpler and less expensive option. It uses SolusVM, local NVMe RAID 10 storage, 10 Gbit/s server connectivity, Linux and Unix operating systems, weekly backups, and configurable resources. It is suitable for development systems, smaller applications, personal servers, and customers who do not need cluster-level high availability.

The Xen XCP-NG VPS service operates as a CloudStack-managed cluster with AMD EPYC processors, redundant FC SAN NVMe storage, 100 Gbit/s connectivity, daily backups, snapshots, high availability, and support for Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD. This is the better choice for production applications that cannot depend on a single physical host or local storage array. Both VPS platforms include automated protection against shorter DDoS attacks lasting up to 15 minutes.

At the enterprise level, VMware Cloud supplies IaaS, hybrid-cloud, virtual networking, firewalling, load balancing, backup, and disaster-recovery functions through VMware Cloud Director and NSX. The infrastructure supports single virtual machines as well as complete virtual data centers with isolated networks, distributed firewalls, VPN services, and role-based access.

A major cloud-platform upgrade completed in 2026 moved the compute layer to HPE DL360 Gen12 servers with Intel Xeon 6 processors, DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 connectivity, and upgraded FC-NVMe storage. The environment also includes NVIDIA GPU acceleration, automation through APIs compatible with tools such as Ansible and Terraform, and several identity-provider and multi-factor authentication options.

VMware Cloud Availability DRaaS handles replication, migration, ransomware recovery, and orchestrated disaster recovery between WaveCom’s cloud, another supported cloud, and an on-premises VMware installation. Recovery policies can begin with a one-minute RPO/RTO target, maintain up to 24 restore points through several retention rules, and launch large groups of virtual machines in a predefined sequence. A recovery plan involving as many as 50 virtual machines can be initiated in approximately five minutes.

Standard cloud workloads receive five days of replicated protection with three recovery points per day in another data center. This basic protection is not a substitute for a customer-controlled backup. Faster and contractually defined recovery requires the paid DRaaS or Veeam services, and customers handling critical data should also maintain an independent copy outside WaveCom’s network.

The VMware Tanzu Kubernetes service automates Kubernetes clusters, networks, load balancers, firewalls, persistent storage, monitoring, container registries, and backup components. The Tanzu runtime itself does not add a separate charge beyond the cloud resources it consumes. Test environments are available for up to three months, while Tanzu Mission Control remains an optional paid service.

The GPU Cloud supports AI, machine learning, data science, rendering, virtual workstations, and GPU-enabled Kubernetes. Fractional GPU allocation makes it possible to rent 25% or 50% of a GPU instead of paying for an entire accelerator. NVIDIA AI Enterprise components, preconfigured virtual machines, and Kubernetes integrations are available for projects that need a ready-made AI environment rather than bare GPU hardware.

S3-compatible object storage is integrated into VMware Cloud Director. It uses a multi-node Ceph platform and supports buckets, versioning, access-control lists, graphical management, APIs, backup repositories, archives, application data, and Kubernetes backup workflows.

Dedicated servers are installed in WaveCom’s Tallinn infrastructure and include an SLA covering around-the-clock hardware maintenance. Standard configurations can be activated immediately, while many custom installations are ready by the following business day. Available systems include HPE blade and rack servers with Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC processors, ECC memory, SSD or NVMe storage, hardware RAID, 10–100 Gbit/s network options, DDoS protection, and HPE iLO remote management. Selected configurations can also accommodate NVIDIA GPUs.

Colocation is available for individual 1U servers, half racks, and full 42U cabinets. Customers can obtain redundant power, multiple network links, BGP sessions, DDoS filtering, remote power control, traffic monitoring, and optional cabinet sensors. Electricity is calculated from metered consumption rather than only from the nominal fuse capacity. WaveCom’s engineers and spare-parts stock are located next to the equipment area, which is useful when a hosted server develops a hardware problem.

The server shop carries around 150 refurbished HPE enterprise systems. Purchases can be customized with processors, memory, storage, networking, and management modules. A server purchase includes two months of colocation, while systems kept in WaveCom’s data center receive a two-year onsite warranty.

Commercial SSL certificates are available from Sectigo, DigiCert, RapidSSL, GeoTrust, and Thawte. The range covers domain, organization, extended-validation, wildcard, and multi-domain certificates. Simple certificates can be issued within minutes, while products requiring company validation may take up to five days. Each commercial certificate carries a 14-day money-back period and a certificate-authority warranty ranging from $10,000 to $1.75 million, depending on the product.

WaveCom is also an accredited .ee domain registrar. Domain ordering and management are handled through the client portal. The company gained part of its registrar customer base through the 2014 merger with Tantum Group OÜ.

Partner and reseller options are available for agencies, consultants, IT companies, and infrastructure resellers. Benefits can include discounted cloud resources, dedicated-server discounts, SSL discounts, proof-of-concept environments, direct expert communication, recurring referral income, and customer discount codes.

The website is available in Estonian, English, and Russian, with prices primarily shown in euros. The English version is extensive and practical for international customers. The interface is modern, responsive, and suitable for mobile screens rather than being one of the narrow, desktop-only hosting websites still found among older regional providers.
