*📜 Plan description

Windows Server Standard per CPU core is the Windows operating system licensing add-on for UpCloud Cloud Servers. It is charged per CPU core by the hour, with the monthly estimate based on a 30-day month. Windows licensing is added only when a Windows Server image is selected instead of Linux, and the charge is added on top of the selected Cloud Server, storage and networking cost. This add-on allows Windows application hosting while keeping the same UpCloud infrastructure model, in-house Control Panel, prepaid balance billing, hourly charging, and 24/7 support channels. The pricing page lists Windows Server Standard at 12.00 EUR/month per CPU core and Windows Server Datacenter at 29.02 EUR/month per CPU core.

UpCloud pricing uses a prepaid balance model with resources charged hourly and monthly estimates shown for comparison. Displayed EUR prices exclude applicable local taxes, and EU VAT or Singapore GST can be added according to the customer region; VAT-registered business users can add a valid tax number for VAT-free billing where eligible. The platform is managed through the UpCloud Control Panel and also supports automation through API, CLI and Terraform where applicable. Support is available 24/7/365 by live chat from the control panel and by email, with engineering-level assistance. UpCloud operates global cloud locations in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, London, Madrid, Stavanger, Stockholm, Warsaw, Chicago, New York, San Jose, Singapore and Sydney. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies to the first payment, while unused balance outside that period is normally not refunded.

📄 Editorial Review

UpCloud is a Finnish, European-owned cloud infrastructure provider headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with roots going back to 2011. The company is strongly connected with founder and CTO Joel Pihlajamaa, who came from the Finnish hosting industry before UpCloud became a separate cloud infrastructure brand. Today, UpCloud is best understood as an IaaS / cloud platform, not as a classic shared hosting provider.

This is not the right company for customers looking for traditional shared hosting, cPanel hosting, cheap bundled domains, or beginner website-builder hosting. UpCloud’s real strength is infrastructure: Cloud Servers, GPU Servers, Private Cloud, Private Cloud GPUs, Managed Kubernetes, Managed Databases, Block Storage, File Storage, Object Storage, Simple Backup, Software Defined Networking, Load Balancer, NAT Gateway, VPN Gateway, and zero-cost egress services.

Their cloud servers work well for developers, SaaS platforms, agencies, hosting resellers, application operators, eCommerce projects, and businesses that want direct control over compute, storage, networking, backups, scaling and automation. Plans include cost-focused starter cloud servers, higher-performance premium servers, cloud-native compute, and GPU servers using NVIDIA L4, L40S, H100 and B200 options for AI, machine learning, rendering, inference and other accelerated workloads.

A major advantage is the European sovereign-cloud positioning. UpCloud is based in Finland, has a strong EU compliance profile, and offers European data-center choices for companies that care about GDPR, data locality, vendor independence and avoiding excessive dependency on the largest hyperscale clouds. For technical customers, the combination of API access, Terraform/OpenTofu tooling, CLI support, private networking, managed databases and object storage makes the platform more complete than a basic VPS host.

The website is modern, responsive and available in English. It does not look like an old, narrow-width hosting site from the "old days." Prices are available in EUR, with USD also supported on the pricing interface.
