UD Media is an established German web hosting and domain provider headquartered in Erkelenz, North Rhine-Westphalia. The business dates back to April 2002, when Thomas Borgans and Ronny Schick founded Schick&Borgans GbR and began operating hosting systems for customers. Continued growth led to the formation of UD Media GmbH in November 2003, giving the company more than two decades of experience in the German hosting market.

The portfolio covers shared web hosting, Managed WordPress, Shopware hosting, managed servers, individually configured servers, reseller hosting, domain registration, DNS services, email hosting, SSL certificates, a website builder, web development and related professional services. The range is especially well suited to German individuals, businesses, developers and agencies that prefer hosting under German and EU data-protection rules while retaining access to a relatively small technical team.

The standard Webhosting 6.0 range consists mainly of Start, Power and Professional packages. Start 6.0 includes 10 GB SSD web storage, 10 GB email storage, three .de domains, five MySQL databases, unlimited traffic and backups covering up to three days. Unlimited email addresses and mailboxes, SFTP access, a software installer, several PHP versions, Perl, Python and Ruby support, free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates, DNS administration and DynDNS for IPv4 and IPv6 are also included.

Power 6.0 expands the resources to 50 GB web storage and 50 GB email storage, includes three domains selected from .de, .at and .eu, provides 25 MySQL databases and extends backup retention to five days. It also adds a higher PHP memory allowance together with SSH and WebDAV access.

Professional 6.0 is intended for larger websites and customers managing several projects. It provides 100 GB web storage and 100 GB email storage, additional databases and a wider choice of included domain extensions that also covers .com. The larger hosting plans are consequently suitable for business websites, multiple CMS installations and more demanding PHP applications.

Security and protocol support are comprehensive for shared hosting. Available features include DKIM, DNSSEC, DANE, Perfect Forward Secrecy, spam filtering, virus filtering, directory protection and two-factor authentication. The Homepage Builder offers a simpler alternative for customers who do not want to maintain a conventional CMS. UD Media maintains direct relationships with important registries including DENIC, EURid and NIC.at, and operates as a DENIC member under provider identifier DENIC-358. Customers can manage DNS records through the customer interface or automate DNS changes through a PowerDNS-compatible HTTP API.

Domain-related features include DNSSEC, redirects, IPv4 and IPv6 DynDNS and configurable DNS records. This is a useful addition for developers and technically experienced customers who need more than basic registrar-level nameserver management.

For larger deployments, Managed Servers begin with a recommended configuration of 2 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB storage and 500 GB data transfer. UD Media handles operating-system maintenance, security updates and monitoring, while customers can create separate hosting accounts and manage domains, websites and email through a browser interface.

Managed Server backups are included locally, and external backup retention can be extended to as much as 30 days. This makes the managed platform appropriate for agencies and businesses that require more isolation and resources than shared hosting but do not want responsibility for routine operating-system administration.

Individual Servers can be configured according to project requirements rather than being limited to a small collection of standard hardware plans. Dell server hardware is used, with custom software configurations and optional SLAs offering guaranteed reaction times. Root-level administration through SSH is also possible for projects requiring direct system access.

Agencies and IT companies can use Reseller Hosting and white-label services. Reseller environments allow separate customer accounts, individual resource allocation, domain administration and custom branding. Commercial partners can also receive preferential domain pricing and consolidated invoicing.

All core hosting is located in Germany, making the service particularly relevant to organizations requiring German data residency and GDPR-oriented infrastructure. UD Media has used 100% green electricity since 2008.

The commercial website is primarily available in German and targets German-speaking customers. No complete multi-language/localized storefront exists. Communication in English is nevertheless accepted. Hosting and domain prices are charged in EUR.
