Total Registrations is a long-established UK domain registrar whose operating history goes back to 1995 through Total Web Solutions Limited. The Total Registrations brand became the first UK-based ICANN-accredited registrar to go live in 2000, while its ICANN registrar accreditation dates from 1999. It was also among the early registrars accredited for extensions such as .biz, .info and .name. Over the years, its customer base has included organizations such as BBC, British Telecom, Guardian Media Group, Nationwide Building Society, Reed Exhibitions and Tiscali UK.

The corporate structure changed in April 2024, when Hostworld Internet Limited became the controlling parent of Total Web Solutions Limited, holding at least 75% of its shares and voting rights. Darren James Summers also became a person with significant control and serves as a director. The active legal company behind the registrar is Total Web Solutions Limited, company number 03120571, incorporated on November 1, 1995.

One administrative inconsistency remains in the legal documentation. The privacy policy identifies Total Registrations with company number 04347053, while that number belonged to Total Registrations Limited, a separate company dissolved on July 30, 2024. The registration terms use Total Web Solutions Limited as the contracting company, and the current registered address corresponds to active company number 03120571.

Domain registration remains the company's principal service. A large range of generic domains, country-code extensions and newer gTLDs can be registered, transferred and renewed. Domain accounts include a proprietary web control panel with DNS management, automatic renewals, nameserver administration, contact management and billing functions.

Registered and transferred domains can also use up to five email addresses as forwarding addresses or POP3 mailboxes, with webmail access included. Additional mailboxes can be added when required. DNS administration supports A, MX, CNAME and PTR records, making it practical to keep domain registration with Total Registrations while operating websites or email through another provider. WHOIS privacy is available as an inexpensive optional service for eligible domain extensions.

The domain reseller platform is one of the more substantial parts of the service. Resellers can centrally manage portfolios and automate registrations through an email-based interface or SOAP API. Supported API functions include registration, renewal, transfer, domain modification, locking and unlocking, authorization-code retrieval and contact management. Integrations are also available for WHMCompleteSolution/WHMCS and Parallels Business Automation. API access does not carry an additional fee and is best suited to businesses comfortable with automated registrar operations.

Linux shared hosting is divided into four packages. Web & Email Forwarding is the entry-level option and concentrates mainly on email and forwarding functionality. Value Hosting provides 300 MB of web space and 10 mailboxes. Business Hosting increases storage to 600 MB, includes up to 20 subdomains and one MySQL database, while Pro Hosting provides 1 GB of storage, 25 mailboxes, 35 subdomains and two MySQL databases.

Hosting functionality includes PHP, Perl, WebMail, SSI/CGI, FTP, SSH, DNS zone management, anti-spam protection, antivirus filtering, backup and restore tools, statistics and log management. The technical specification still includes older technologies such as Apache ASP and FrontPage Extensions, while storage allowances between 300 MB and 1 GB are modest by modern shared-hosting standards.

A Site Builder is also available for customers who prefer a visual website creation environment instead of managing files through FTP. It includes drag-and-drop editing, multiple design options, e-commerce functionality, search, analytics, Facebook integration, automatic mobile adaptation and site-version management. Changes can be published directly without manually working with the hosting filesystem.

A VPS Servers option is also available from the hosting area, although VPS provisioning is now handled through parent company Hostworld rather than as a traditional Total Registrations shared-hosting product.

The website operates in English and retains an older visual and technical style. Several parts of the service still contain legacy technology references, and domain information includes wording dating from the introduction of hundreds of new domain extensions around 2014. The registrar operation itself has a long history, but its retail presentation and traditional shared-hosting range are noticeably more dated than many current competitors.
