📄 Editorial Review

Timeweb is a large Russian hosting and cloud provider founded in May 2006 by Alexander Boykov and a business partner. From conventional web hosting, it developed into an integrated infrastructure ecosystem with more than 400 employees, approximately 3 million customers, and over 700,000 websites on its servers. The legal operator is Joint Stock Company TimeWeb, registered in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is also an accredited registrar for the .ru and .рф namespaces and holds Russian telecommunications licenses.

The catalog brings together Shared Hosting, WordPress Hosting, CMS Hosting, Premium Hosting, VDS/VPS, Dedicated Servers, Domain Registration, SSL Certificates, DNS Hosting, Business Email, and a Website Builder. This is a considerably wider operation than a small shared-hosting reseller. One account can support a progression from a basic site and domain to isolated premium hosting, virtual infrastructure, and dedicated hardware, with billing and administration retained inside the wider Timeweb ecosystem.

Standard shared hosting serves personal sites, landing pages, blogs, company websites, media projects, and online stores. The Year, Optimo, Century, and Millennium families increase the number of isolated sites, NVMe capacity, and database allowances. Every tier includes a free Let's Encrypt certificate, domain email, DNS hosting, automated backups, unmetered traffic, and Timeweb's browser control panel. Each site runs inside an isolated environment, reducing the chance that a compromised or malfunctioning project will affect other sites in the same account.

The technical environment accommodates MySQL 5.7 and 8.0 and a broad PHP range extending from legacy releases through PHP 8.4. FTP, cron, access and error logs, password-protected directories, custom error pages, SSH/SFTP, phpMyAdmin, and two-factor account access cover both routine administration and development work. Site owners can install WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OpenCart, 1C-Bitrix, and other PHP/MySQL systems through the panel or deploy them manually.

Specialized plans tune the environment for WordPress, 1C-Bitrix, and heavier commercial applications. WordPress accounts provide rapid installation and an already prepared runtime, while the 1C-Bitrix and premium tiers allocate additional resources for online stores, large catalogs, and busy campaigns. Automated copies can be retained for as long as 30 days, and paid on-demand backups allow a specific restore point before an upgrade or development change. Free migration covers sites and domains. A qualifying annual transfer can also receive either a previous-host balance bonus or three free hosting months.

VDS and VPS instances combine Intel or AMD processors, scalable RAM, NVMe storage, public IP addressing, and network ports up to 1 Gbps. Small Linux configurations suit websites, development, testing, VPN gateways, and lightweight services; larger instances accommodate databases, applications, mail, game servers, and backup repositories. Hourly-style consumption and daily or monthly equivalents make short-lived workloads practical. Customers can select operating-system templates, deploy marketplace applications, take snapshots, add backups, and pay for server administration. Eligible configurations also support Windows.

Dedicated service stretches from economical Intel Xeon systems to modern AMD EPYC and Ryzen machines, high-capacity storage builds, NVMe-intensive servers, and GPU configurations. Stock hardware shortens provisioning, while custom builds address unusual CPU, memory, disk, or accelerator requirements. These machines fit high-traffic websites, virtualization, databases, game platforms, and workloads that need exclusive compute and storage. Remote management, DDoS filtering, IP allocations, and traffic characteristics vary with the chosen server and location.

More than 300 domain extensions are available through registration, renewal, transfer, WHOIS, and DNS-management tools. Transfers of .ru .рф names can be completed without a transfer fee under the applicable procedure, while identity verification for .ru .рф .su integrates with Russia's Gosuslugi system. Free Let's Encrypt coverage is built into hosting, and paid SSL choices serve requirements beyond ordinary domain-validated encryption. The integrated registrar function is useful for customers who want domains, DNS, hosting, certificates, mail, and technical support under one login.

Standalone business email supports organizations that want mailboxes on their own domain without tying them to a web-hosting quota. The standard tier allows up to 500 mailboxes, each with 100 GB, and includes spam controls, sender blocking, mobile access, and an AI writing assistant. The corporate tier serves more than 500 mailboxes with expanded capacity, mail migration, priority help, and individual pricing. The wider suite also reaches no-code site creation through Craftum and assisted turnkey website work.

Timeweb remains strongly oriented toward Russian-speaking customers. Its primary site, account information, documentation, contracts, community, and support environment are predominantly Russian, while billing centers on RUB. European infrastructure and international card handling can make the service usable abroad, but they do not turn it into an English-first platform. An international organization should confirm the service language, governing contract, acceptable payment route, and exact data location before committing production systems.
