TelemaxX Telekommunikation GmbH is a German telecommunications, cloud, and data center operator headquartered in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg. The company was established on February 5, 1999, through regional municipal utilities and energy suppliers. This background has helped TelemaxX retain a strong regional identity while developing its own data center infrastructure, metropolitan fiber network, cloud platforms, and technical operations.

Jan Lange has served as managing director and CEO since April 1, 2025, bringing roughly three decades of experience in telecommunications, cloud infrastructure, and data center services. TelemaxX had approximately 144 full-time-equivalent employees in 2025 and serves more than 1,000 business customers.

TelemaxX is primarily an enterprise infrastructure provider rather than a traditional mass-market web host. Its portfolio centers on colocation, sovereign cloud infrastructure, private cloud environments, object storage, managed servers, managed networking, cybersecurity, business Internet, fiber connections, VPN services, SIP telephony, carrier services, and cloud interconnection. The TelemaxX OpenCloud is an OpenStack-based cloud platform operated from the company’s Karlsruhe data centers. Workloads remain within German and European jurisdiction, making the service suitable for organizations that prioritize data sovereignty and want to avoid dependence on non-European hyperscale infrastructure. Resources can be deployed and scaled through a web interface, API access, command-line tools, Terraform, and Kubernetes-compatible workflows.

OpenCloud billing is usage-based, with compute, memory, storage, IP addresses, and load-balancing resources charged according to consumption. Internet traffic is included under a fair-use arrangement, and the standard cloud service does not require a minimum contract term. This makes it more flexible than TelemaxX’s long-term fiber and enterprise connectivity agreements.

The Virtual Private Cloud is intended for organizations requiring dedicated physical compute resources instead of shared cloud hosts. Customers receive isolated infrastructure, dedicated host systems, separated networking, and self-service administration. More advanced configurations can be distributed across two TelemaxX data centers, allowing higher resilience for regulated applications, internal enterprise platforms, and business-critical systems.

The TelemaxX VMware Cloud supports organizations already using VMware-based virtualization. It provides individually configured virtual machines, controlled user permissions, optional geographically separated backups, managed operation, and direct integration with other TelemaxX services. Traffic exchanged between connected TelemaxX platforms does not normally attract additional internal transfer charges.

TelemaxX also provides S3-compatible object storage from Germany. The service supports buckets, metadata, object tagging, API integration, backup repositories, and immutable storage workflows. It is particularly useful for application data, archives, media repositories, and off-site backup strategies.

Colocation customers can choose half racks, complete racks, or physically separated cages. TelemaxX can manage the entire deployment process, including equipment installation, structured cabling, relocation, commissioning, network design, Remote Hands, and ongoing infrastructure operation. Half racks provide 23 rack units and redundant 16-amp feeds, while full racks provide 46 rack units with larger redundant power allocations.

The managed infrastructure portfolio includes Managed Server, Managed Switch, Managed Storage, and Managed Firewall services. Hardware can be installed inside a TelemaxX rack, within a managed shared environment, or at the customer’s own premises. Maintenance, security updates, firmware management, performance monitoring, health checks, troubleshooting, and incident handling can all be included in the service agreement.

Managed Storage is divided into archive, economic-performance, high-performance, and NVMe-based high-performance-plus classes. Dedicated storage platforms can also be designed for customers requiring a separate physical environment. Managed Firewall services are available as physical or virtual appliances, with TelemaxX handling platform maintenance and ongoing protection against unauthorized traffic, malware, network attacks, and service disruption.

Security services include Secure-maxX, managed firewalls, DDoS protection, isolated cloud environments, and a German Managed Security Operations Center. The SOC monitors and analyzes security events continuously and operates with a maximum reaction time of two hours under the applicable service terms.

Telecommunications remain a major part of the company’s business. Dedicated Ethernet connections can be supplied at speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps, with standard or redundant routing. Business Internet connections use symmetric bandwidth and dedicated fiber rather than a shared consumer access medium. Managed gateway equipment, IPv6 support, BGP connectivity, and redundant circuit options are also available.

The company’s broader communication services include site-to-site VPNs, SIP accounts, SIP trunks, cloud telephony, scalable voice platforms, carrier management, and white-label telecommunications infrastructure for municipal utilities and regional service providers.

Interconnection services include GlobePEER, GlobePEER Remote, VirtualPNI, DirectCLOUD, and redundant access to DE-CIX. DirectCLOUD can create private connections to Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, allowing supported workloads to bypass ordinary public Internet routes.

The TelemaxX website has a modern and responsive design with German and English navigation. German remains the most complete language version, while parts of the English interface still contain untranslated German elements.
