TECOB – Tecnologia i Codi Obert is an Andorran hosting, systems administration, open-source software, and web development company active since 2005. The brand is operated by PARSEC Enginyeria Informàtica i Telecomunicacions, S.L., an independent company backed by Andorran capital. PARSEC was incorporated on April 19, 2005, while TECOB entered the Andorran Trade and Industry Register on June 27, 2005. Franc Rodriguez is one of the company’s co-founders.

TECOB follows a specialized technical-service model rather than the mass-market approach used by large automated hosting platforms. Its work combines hosting with Linux administration, virtualization, networking, security, software development, and continuing infrastructure maintenance. This makes the company particularly suitable for Andorran businesses that prefer direct access to technical specialists instead of relying entirely on automated support systems.

The main hosting product is fully managed VPS hosting. Each customer receives an individual virtual server based on Proxmox virtualization and Ubuntu GNU/Linux LTS. The standard environment includes NVMe storage, a dedicated IP address, a 500 Mbps network connection, and unlimited data transfer. TECOB manages the operating system and essential server services, reducing the technical workload for customers without an internal Linux administrator.

TECOB is not structured as a conventional low-cost shared-hosting company. Its current catalog is centered on managed virtual servers rather than inexpensive shared cPanel accounts, reseller hosting, or instant unmanaged cloud instances. Dedicated servers and custom infrastructure remain part of the company’s technical capabilities and can be arranged according to project requirements.

The Domain Registration service covers local and international extensions. Available choices include common extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .es, .ad, and .eu, along with a broader selection supplied through several registrar partners. DNS hosting is included with domains registered through TECOB, while a separate DNS management interface can be enabled for customers who require direct control over their records.

The Remote Backup service can protect TECOB VPS accounts as well as servers hosted with other providers. Backup data is encrypted during transmission and while stored. A new copy is generated every night, and older backups are removed only after the latest backup has completed successfully.

The BKP-7, BKP-15, and BKP-30 plans provide different retention periods. Backup copies are kept hundreds of kilometers from the primary hosting environment, offering useful geographic separation between production systems and recovery data.

Additional services include:

• Nextcloud installation and administration for file sharing, calendars, collaboration, and video communication

Nextcloud can be installed on a VPS subdomain without a separate installation charge. Its storage, memory, and processor usage remain part of the resources available on the selected server plan.

The customer area supports two-factor authentication and passkey login, adding stronger protection against compromised passwords. TECOB also uses a relatively restrained privacy model, relying mainly on essential cookies rather than behavioral advertising or extensive tracking systems.
