StreamGuys is a US-based managed streaming, podcasting, and broadcast infrastructure provider founded in 2000 by Kiriki Delany, who remains Founder and President. Headquartered in Bayside, California, the company has spent more than two decades concentrating on professional media delivery rather than conventional shared web hosting. Its team represents more than 360 years of combined industry experience, and more than 2,000 organizations use StreamGuys technology for streaming, podcasting, monetization, analytics, and related media operations.

The company began with a very small operation and grew quickly within the streaming industry. By 2004, StreamGuys had reached the #2 position among CDNs in an Arbitron streaming-media ranking. That early specialization remains central to the business today.

StreamGuys is not intended for ordinary cPanel hosting, WordPress accounts, generic VPS instances, or basic dedicated servers. Its hosting environment centers on managed audio and video streaming, podcast hosting, content delivery, broadcast SaaS, media processing, monetization, analytics, stream monitoring, and cloud-based broadcast infrastructure.

Audio & Video Streaming is one of its principal services. Geographically distributed ingest and delivery infrastructure accepts standards-based encoder feeds, while the Contribution Network can route, transcode, and transmux incoming media before distributing it to listeners, viewers, or additional platforms. This makes the platform particularly suitable for broadcasters that need multiple output formats or destinations without operating all processing systems locally.

Stream management extends well beyond basic Icecast or Shoutcast delivery. SGcontrol handles geographical targeting and access restrictions together with token-based authorization. HLS Source Control can manage sources and failover, while SGrewind adds network DVR functionality to compatible live audio and video streams. Listeners can rewind, pause, and resume live programming, and scheduled radio content can remain available for replay after its original broadcast.

Ultra-Low Latency Streaming can reduce glass-to-glass delay to around one second, making it particularly useful for sports venues, live events, and interactive applications where standard HLS latency would leave viewers noticeably behind the action. The system works with standard encoding workflows and supports iOS and Android playback together with dynamic pre-roll advertising.

Podcast Hosting is based on the proprietary SGrecast platform. SGrecast operates as a complete podcast content management system where broadcasters can organize programming, publish episodes, manage monetization, and integrate podcast activity with StreamGuys analytics and live-streaming infrastructure.

Broadcast-to-Podcast automation is especially useful for radio stations and networks. Programs can automatically become podcast episodes, including workflows that remove commercials or licensed music before publishing. Pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll advertising markers can be inserted, while a waveform editor allows precise adjustment when manual editing is required. REST API integration supports larger broadcasters that want publishing and content workflows connected directly with their own systems.

Production services include the Contribution Network, cloud-based transcoding and transmuxing, source switching, closed-caption insertion, stream recording, social-platform distribution, and cloud playout. Remote Encoder Lite provides software-based encoding for organizations that want to convert media files or feeds into continuously running linear streams without maintaining separate hardware encoders.

Analytics are handled through SGreports and SGmonitor. SGreports provides Total Listening Hours, active sessions, session starts, quarter-hour sessions, unique users, and other audience measurements, with filtering based on geography, device, content, and time period. Live streams, podcast traffic, and SGrewind consumption can be measured within the broader analytics environment. SGmonitor concentrates on current and historical concurrency and also makes information available to external systems through an API.

The Revenue platform gives commercial broadcasters tools for advertising and subscription-based monetization. Advertising can be delivered as pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll inventory with trafficking, targeting, forecasting, and reporting functionality. Unsold inventory can be supplemented through the StreamGuys Ad Network, while broadcasters with their own sales operations can manage directly sold campaigns.

RevenueStream handles subscription and pay-per-view access. Available since 2008, it can place audio, video, and other digital content behind authenticated subscriptions, creating additional options for premium programming, archives, sports coverage, membership services, and other paid media.

Managed operational services can move traditional broadcast functions into cloud infrastructure. Automation systems, encoders, specialized streaming servers, transcoders, captioning systems, and software-based studio-to-transmitter links can operate within the StreamGuys environment, combining migration, implementation, and ongoing operations with managed infrastructure.

Monitoring services include SGalerts, SGmonitor, SGmetadata, and IsMyStreamUp. IsMyStreamUp can also monitor streams delivered through other providers, making it useful independently of the main StreamGuys CDN. It supports technologies including HLS, Icecast, Shoutcast, and RTMP and can detect availability problems and silence while sending notifications to multiple contacts.

Another specialized service is the Barix (barix.com) Reflector platform. It provides an IP-based alternative to traditional satellite distribution for radio contribution and syndication. The system supports UDP/RTP and formats including Opus, MP3, and PCM, together with configurable latency, redundant encoders, forward-error correction, backup streams, and local USB failover. It is particularly practical for broadcasters distributing programming to remote affiliates without relying entirely on satellite capacity.

The RetailPlayer Portal supports Barix-based in-store audio deployments. During 2026, StreamGuys became the hosting platform for this environment as the previous Barix-hosted portal was retired on July 1, 2026. RetailPlayer provides centralized control over channels, volume, and on-demand playback at remote locations, together with local playlist failover and smartphone-based control. Premium RetailHero expands this with advertising and content scheduling.

StreamGuys is primarily an English-language service, and standardized public prices are denominated in US dollars. Most enterprise streaming, podcasting, monetization, and managed broadcast configurations are customized around bandwidth, storage, audience size, workflow requirements, and operational complexity.
