RegNames is a Czech-operated domain registration and web hosting service owned by Gransy (gransy.com), a Prague-based registrar company founded in 2009 by Jan Horak, who continues to serve as Founder and CEO. Gransy became the first Czech company to receive ICANN registrar accreditation in 2010. RegNames joined the group in 2014, when Gransy acquired the Ukrainian Regnames domain project as part of its expansion into Eastern European and Russian-speaking markets.

Domain registration is the central part of the business. RegNames handles more than 1,000 domain extensions, including traditional generic TLDs, new gTLDs, country-code domains and numerous internationalized domain names. Registration, renewal and transfer services are available together with authorization-code handling, local-presence services for extensions that impose residency requirements, WHOIS privacy where permitted, DNS management, DNSSEC and IDN support.

The hosting range is considerably smaller and centers on PHP Shared Hosting. Four configurations are available: Start, Sitebuilder + 1GB E-Mail, Business and Multi. Start provides 3 GB of storage for one domain, Business increases capacity to 20 GB, while Multi offers 200 GB and can host up to 10 domains. PHP hosting includes unlimited traffic, MySQL databases, daily backups, FTP/FTPS/SSH access and POP3/IMAP/SMTP email. Sitebuilder + 1GB E-Mail is aimed at simpler websites and combines a website builder with email hosting.

Email management includes mailboxes, forwarding and message copying, anti-spam controls, blacklists and whitelists. FTP accounts, SSH/SFTP access, MySQL users and databases can also be managed as part of the hosting environment.

RegNames has a substantial automation layer behind these relatively simple hosting packages. Its SOAP API supports domain registration, contacts, nameservers, DNS zones, domain renewals and transfers, documents, sub-users and hosting administration. Reseller functions are also available, including tools for controlling allocated hosting space and managing excess capacity.

The API extends into a separate World Hosting system capable of working with individual hosting locations and returning information such as server country, locality, IP address and reverse hostname. This is particularly useful for resellers and customers integrating domain and hosting services directly into their own systems.

SSL certificate management is incorporated into the platform as well. Certificate ordering includes standard and wildcard RapidSSL certificates using CSR-based validation and domain approval by email. DNS administration, DNSSEC and domain or email forwarding complement the domain-related services.

The wider Gransy organization also operates Regtons, its wholesale domain platform, together with AnycastDNS (anycastdns.cz). AnycastDNS runs more than 40 nodes worldwide, giving the group extensive globally distributed DNS infrastructure. Gransy reached more than one million managed domain names in 2025.

RegNames is available in English and supports pricing in USD, EUR, RUB and UAH. This multi-currency structure remains useful for its international and Eastern European customer base. One drawback is the aging technical information around its shared hosting platform, where PHP 5.x and 7.x releases, including PHP 7.3, remain prominent. Customers running current applications should therefore confirm the exact PHP versions currently available before moving production workloads.
