The operation began in 2009 from a small university bedroom, although LinkedIn lists 2011 as the company’s foundation year.

The business is connected with founder and CEO Glenn Gonsalves and operates through RedSwitches Pte. Ltd. It remains privately held, with more than 5,000 customers served and over 2,000 active servers. The company size is within the 51–200 employee range.

RedSwitches is an infrastructure-focused provider rather than a conventional shared-hosting company. Its portfolio is built around dedicated physical hardware for customers requiring predictable processor performance, high storage throughput, private resources, full root access and substantial network capacity. Shared hosting, bundled domain registration and beginner website-builder packages are not central parts of the business.

The wider portfolio includes Storage Servers, Windows Servers, DDoS-Protected Servers, Managed Servers, Unmanaged Servers, Proxmox Servers, ARM systems and dedicated VPN infrastructure. Windows Server can be installed on compatible machines, with the Microsoft license normally charged separately.

Managed hosting extends beyond the physical server. Depending on the agreed administration package, RedSwitches can handle operating-system installation, updates, basic server hardening, firewall configuration, monitoring, common web stacks and control-panel assistance. Application architecture, business data and software-specific administration remain the customer’s responsibility unless included in a separate management agreement.

Unmanaged servers are less expensive and provide unrestricted administrative control, but the customer must maintain the operating system, security patches, application stack, databases, backups and recovery procedures.
