RackNation is a Costa Rican data center, cloud and hosting company operating since 2012, when its first infrastructure facility was deployed in San Pedro, San José. The company operates as RackNation S.A. and was founded by Felipe Cruz Ferrero, who remains Founder and CTO. RackNation is privately held, falls within the 11-50 employee range, and has served more than 2,900 customers worldwide, with a strong focus on infrastructure hosted inside Costa Rica.

RackNation is considerably more infrastructure-oriented than a conventional shared hosting provider. Its portfolio includes Shared Web Hosting, Linux VPS, HyperFlex Cloud, Dedicated Servers, Colocation, Rack Space, Dedicated NAS, Private AI Infrastructure, managed database clusters, backup, DDoS protection, WAF, Anycast DNS, domain registration, SSL certificates, VPN access, storage and software licensing. The website and client area are available in English and Spanish, while pricing is primarily in US dollars (USD).

SSD Shared Web Hosting is the simplest entry point. Plans run on RackNation infrastructure in Costa Rica and combine cPanel, Softaculous, CloudLinux, Imunify360 and Acronis backup. Starter includes 20 GB SSD storage, 50 email accounts, five MySQL databases, five add-on domains and 500 GB monthly transfer. Business increases storage to 40 GB and transfer to 1 TB, Premium provides 60 GB storage, while Ultimate reaches 80 GB SSD storage, 1.5 TB monthly transfer and includes a dedicated IP address. Shell access is available throughout the range.

The shared platform works well for customers who want conventional cPanel hosting without administering the underlying operating system. Daily Acronis backups, malware protection, Softaculous application installation and CloudLinux account isolation make it practical for WordPress, company websites, small online applications and agency workloads.

Linux VPS instances are available independently in both CR1 San Pedro and CR2 Curridabat. Entry configurations start with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 15 GB storage, one IPv4 address, one IPv6 address and 2 TB monthly transfer. Larger packages add CPU, memory, storage and transfer capacity. VPS systems include full root access, rapid automated deployment and the ability to increase resources when requirements grow. Network interfaces operate at up to 250 or 400 Mbps depending on the selected configuration, while DDoS protection and Acronis backup can be added separately.

The more advanced HyperFlex Cloud 2.0 platform is designed for scalable production workloads rather than simple fixed-size VPS hosting. It uses Intel Xeon Gold processors together with NVMe and SSD block storage, while the distributed storage architecture maintains three copies of each data chunk for additional resiliency. Customers can create multiple instances from a self-service resource pool and increase resources as workloads expand. Monthly commitment and metered pay-as-you-go billing are both available. HyperFlex can be deployed across both RackNation data centers, allowing multi-site architectures within Costa Rica.

Dedicated Servers provide bare-metal infrastructure in either CR1 or CR2. Available systems use Dell and HP enterprise hardware with Intel Xeon processors, SSD or NVMe storage, RAID, IPv4 and IPv6, Windows or Linux operating systems and configurable networking. The server catalog covers lower-cost Dell R210 hardware through R430 and R630 systems and more powerful Dell R640 servers with dual Intel Xeon Gold processors. This gives customers a broad choice between economical legacy hardware and considerably newer enterprise platforms. Normal provisioning is around two to four hours, with spare hardware maintained on site for replacement requirements.

RackNation's Private AI Infrastructure provides dedicated NVIDIA systems for customers who need local AI processing rather than shared public-cloud GPUs. The NVIDIA DGX Spark configuration uses the Grace Blackwell GB10 platform with 128 GB unified memory and is suitable for inference, RAG, model development and fine-tuning. The system includes a dedicated 1 Gbps uplink with 32 TB monthly outbound traffic, a WatchGuard T20 or OPNsense firewall and a 10 Gbps private VLAN connection to HyperFlex infrastructure. Databases, vector stores and application front ends can therefore remain close to the AI server while the complete environment stays inside Costa Rica.

Dedicated NAS uses Synology hardware and can be deployed in either RackNation data center. The service combines ECC memory, RAID-capable storage, a 1 Gbps network connection and Synology tools for file sharing, synchronization, restoration and collaboration. It can serve as private business storage, a collaboration environment or an independent backup destination without relying exclusively on public cloud storage.

ClusterWarden expands the portfolio into managed database infrastructure. It automates Percona XtraDB, PostgreSQL and pgEdge database clusters, including replication, HAProxy load balancing, monitoring, rolling maintenance, failover, self-healing and encrypted backups. Open Clusters can also manage servers outside RackNation, which makes the service suitable for mixed infrastructure deployments.

Backup services use Acronis CyberBackup / CyberProtect and can protect physical or virtual servers, schedule encrypted backups and restore full systems or individual files. Endpoint protection can also include Trend Micro Worry-Free XDR for Windows Server, Windows workstations and macOS systems.

Application security is available through Cloudflare Enterprise WAF, including bot mitigation, API security and Layer 3, Layer 4 and Layer 7 DDoS protection.

RackNation additionally operates a multi-stage DDoS protection architecture. Large attacks can be redirected through Cloudflare Magic Transit, while Juniper FlowSpec filtering and an internal RioRey filtering layer provide additional protection closer to customer infrastructure. VPS, cloud, dedicated server and colocation customers can use the platform, including organizations announcing their own IP space through BGP.

RUTA53 Anycast DNS provides globally distributed authoritative DNS through a network exceeding 190 points of presence. It includes a DNS management interface, Anycast routing, DDoS resistance and zone-import functionality. RackNation customers can use a free tier for up to 25 zones, while larger packages are available separately.

Additional services include NFS Storage, where the first 100 GB is hosted on enterprise storage and synchronized automatically to Backblaze B2, and an OpenVPN-based VPN Gateway for secure access to cloud and bare-metal networks. RackNation also provides domain registration, SSL certificates and licenses for cPanel, Plesk, LiteSpeed, Imunify360 and CloudLinux.

SSL options include Sectigo PositiveSSL, RapidSSL and GeoTrust QuickSSL certificates, with standard, wildcard and multi-domain configurations. Domain registration covers popular extensions including .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .ca and .eu.

RackNation ended its Google Workspace Partner role after August 30, 2025. Existing accounts and future Google Workspace billing moved directly to Google, so Google Workspace should no longer be considered an active RackNation reseller product.

Overall, RackNation covers considerably more than conventional hosting. The same provider can support a basic cPanel website, virtual machines, multi-site cloud infrastructure, bare-metal servers, private AI systems, storage, database clusters and full rack colocation.
