Prometeus is a long-established Italian hosting provider whose history began in 1997 with a single server. The original business operated as Prometeus di Daniela Agro, with Daniela Agro as the proprietor behind the company. IperWeb LLC was incorporated in the United States on December 10, 1997, while the related IperWeb domain also dates from that year.

The company concentrated on hosting, server infrastructure and technical consulting rather than website development or digital marketing. Virtualization became part of its operations during the second half of 2006 through Xen, KVM and VMware. Investment in independent network and server infrastructure followed in 2008, while IPv4 and IPv6 resources and AS34971 were introduced in 2009. Prometeus became a RIPE NCC member and Local Internet Registry in April 2012.

Prometeus joined CDLAN (cdlan.it) in January 2023, becoming part of a larger Italian infrastructure group with data center operations in Milan and Rome, a redundant national network and services covering cloud infrastructure, connectivity and colocation.

The present product range is centered on Italian VPS hosting, shared hosting and flexible cloud infrastructure. LPAR KVM is positioned between a conventional VPS and a dedicated server because CPU cores, memory and storage are allocated as dedicated virtual resources. Plans include SSD storage, one IPv4 address, a /64 IPv6 subnet and 10 TB of monthly traffic. Linux and BSD operating systems are supported, ISO images can be mounted, and customers receive controls for powering, reinstalling and accessing the server console. These remain KVM virtual machines rather than physical bare-metal servers.

K-POWER VPS combines KVM virtualization with Fibre Channel SAN storage. Configurations range from 4 GB to 32 GB RAM and from 200 GB to 2 TB of disk capacity. The large storage allocations suit databases, development systems, business applications and content-heavy websites that need considerably more space than a standard entry-level VPS.

TeraKVM VPS uses separate storage for the operating system and customer data. A smaller SSD volume handles the system installation, while a much larger HDD allocation provides capacity for files, backups and archives. Entry configurations combine 20 GB SSD storage with 200 GB HDD space, while the largest standard plan reaches 200 GB SSD and 2 TB HDD. This structure is particularly practical for backup repositories, media collections and storage-intensive services where capacity is more important than full SSD performance.

BIZ Shared Hosting provides multi-domain hosting on Italian infrastructure. The platform includes cPanel, WHM, CloudLinux, LiteSpeed, JetBackup, Softaculous, SSD storage, IPv6 and reseller subaccounts. Customers can manage multiple websites, databases, FTP accounts and email services from the same package. The reseller functionality makes the larger plans suitable for developers, freelance administrators and small agencies managing several independent customer accounts.

cdStack Cloud Services, which succeeded the earlier iwStack platform, provides pay-as-you-go infrastructure in Milan and Rome. It supports virtual machines, private networks, firewall policies, VPN functionality, load balancing, templates, snapshots and API-based provisioning. Daily consumption billing gives customers more flexibility than a fixed monthly VPS when resources need to be increased, reduced or deployed temporarily.

Prometeus also has a long history of specialist services, including OpenVZ SSD VPS, Windows KVM VPS, Xen VPS, S3-compatible object storage, Seafile cloud storage and FTP-based static hosting. Some of these products belong to earlier generations of the platform and are no longer prominent in the active ordering system.

The former iwSea S3 service used MinIO with ZFS-backed storage in the Netherlands, dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity and unmetered traffic. iwSea Cloud Storage used Seafile, WebDAV and client-side encryption, with storage infrastructure in Romania. FTP’n’Web Hosting provided inexpensive FTP storage and static HTTP hosting through DirectAdmin in Italy.

The company website remains in English and uses a narrow, fixed-width layout typical of an older hosting website. It contains extensive technical information but is less convenient on mobile devices and includes references to several previous-generation services alongside the active catalog. The billing portal has a more modern interface and supports Arabic, Azerbaijani, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Persian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian.
