pCloud is a Swiss cloud-storage and file-synchronization provider founded in 2013 by Tunio Zafer and Anton Titov. The service is operated by pCloud International AG, headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, with an important operational and engineering presence in Sofia, Bulgaria. The company has grown into an international cloud platform used by millions of registered customers across more than 130 countries.

pCloud is not a conventional web hosting provider. It does not offer shared hosting, VPS plans, dedicated servers, domain registration, DNS management or hosted email accounts. Its main activity is secure online storage, computer backup, file synchronization, media streaming, password management and controlled file sharing for individuals, families and businesses.

The free account includes up to 10 GB of storage, while paid personal plans provide 500 GB, 2 TB or 10 TB. Files are accessible through the browser, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS applications. The desktop software creates a virtual pCloud Drive that behaves like an additional disk without requiring every stored file to occupy space on the local computer.

This virtual-drive approach is particularly useful for laptops with limited SSD capacity. Frequently accessed folders can also be synchronized for offline use, while larger archives remain stored remotely and appear when the internet connection is available.

Paid accounts do not impose a conventional maximum upload file size. Upload and download performance is not restricted through artificial plan-specific speed limits, although actual transfer speeds naturally depend on the customer’s internet connection, geographic location, device performance and route to the selected data region.

The sharing system supports public download links, password protection, expiration dates and upload requests. Shared pages can be customized with a logo, cover image, title and explanatory text, making them suitable for photographers, agencies, freelancers and businesses delivering files to clients.

Photos, videos and music can be viewed or streamed directly from the cloud. The integrated audio player supports playlists and organization by album or artist, while video content can be played without downloading the complete file beforehand.

Computer backup is available for selected folders on Windows, macOS and Linux. pCloud can also import content from services such as Google Drive, Google Photos, Dropbox and OneDrive, which simplifies migration and consolidation between different cloud platforms.

Deleted-file retention and revision history depend on the account type. Free accounts generally receive 15 days, while Premium and Family plans include 30 days. Business accounts include 180 days of file versioning. The optional Extended File History service expands recovery, Trash and Rewind coverage to 365 days from the moment the feature is activated.

pCloud Rewind can return an account or selected folders to an earlier condition after accidental deletion, synchronization errors, unwanted changes or file corruption. It is useful for restoring previous versions, although important data should still be maintained in at least one additional independent backup.

Files are protected during transfer with TLS/SSL, while stored content uses 256-bit AES encryption. Two-factor authentication is available together with recovery codes, trusted-device controls and active-session management.

Personal customers requiring zero-knowledge protection can add pCloud Encryption. This feature creates a Crypto folder in which files are encrypted locally before being transmitted. The Crypto Pass does not leave the customer’s device, preventing pCloud personnel or infrastructure administrators from decrypting the protected content.

The Crypto Pass cannot be recovered by customer support. Losing it permanently removes access to files stored inside the Crypto folder. Standard files outside that folder continue to use server-side encryption rather than client-controlled zero-knowledge encryption.

The client-side encryption system completed a public 180-day hacking challenge involving more than 2,800 participants without a successful compromise. This provides additional confidence in the Crypto architecture, although strong passwords, two-factor authentication and secure customer devices remain essential.

pCloud Family provides a shared lifetime storage package for as many as five people. Each member has a private account area, while the plan owner controls invitations and allocates storage from the common capacity. Family members cannot automatically access one another’s private files unless folders are deliberately shared.

The Family product is available with 2 TB or 10 TB of total storage. The advertised capacity belongs to the whole family account rather than being duplicated separately for each member.

pCloud Business is intended for companies with at least three users. The standard package includes 1 TB per user, while Business Pro includes 2 TB per user. Business accounts receive client-side encryption, user administration, teams, access permissions, activity monitoring, secure sharing, storage quotas and 180-day file versioning.

Business administrators can suspend users, transfer company files when employees leave, organize people into teams and control access to shared folders. Business Pro also includes priority customer support.

The business platform works well for controlled file exchange, document distribution, agency collaboration and remote-team storage. It does not include a complete office productivity suite or advanced real-time document editing comparable to platforms centered around collaborative office applications.

pCloud Pass is a separate zero-knowledge password manager for login credentials, payment cards, secure notes and other private information. It is available through browser extensions, mobile applications, desktop applications and a web interface. Family packages allow several people to maintain separate private vaults.

pCloud Transfer provides quick file delivery without requiring recipients to maintain a full storage account. The free transfer service supports packages of up to 5 GB and delivery to as many as ten recipients. Encrypted transfers are available when additional confidentiality is required.

pCloud Save is a browser extension for saving supported online images and web content directly into a pCloud account. Developers can integrate storage functions through the pCloud API, including authentication, file operations, uploads, revisions, streaming, public links and upload links.

A reseller program is available for agencies and service companies that want to distribute eligible pCloud accounts through a dedicated management panel. The program begins with a 30% discount and can reach 40% as cumulative sales increase. Resellers establish their own customer prices and receive real-time sales information.
