📄 Editorial Review

PappaShop is a small U.S. web hosting and e-commerce provider based in Keizer, Oregon, with a particularly long history in hosted online-store services. The company dates back to 2006 and remains under its original ownership. Alexander Pappadakis is associated with the business as owner, while the company information also identifies Alex and Jocelyn, reflecting the relatively small, owner-operated nature of the operation.

The service range is concentrated on Linux Shared Hosting, Domain Registration, E-commerce Hosting, Website Builder services, Email, SSL and Website Templates. PappaShop is therefore primarily suited to conventional websites and smaller online stores rather than customers requiring VPS, dedicated servers or large-scale cloud infrastructure.

There are three main hosting packages. General Hosting costs $4.99/month and is intended for customers who create and manage their own websites. It includes 1 GB of storage, five email accounts, five MySQL databases, five FTP accounts, SSL, cPanel, daily backups and one add-on domain. The PappaShop website builder, shopping cart and responsive template package are not included at this level.

Basic Hosting, at $9.99/month, is the first complete PappaShop e-commerce package. It adds the PappaShop Site Builder CMS, shopping-cart integration, mobile-responsive templates, secure SSL checkout, 4 GB of storage and unmetered bandwidth, together with five email accounts. One website can be built with the PappaShop system, while support for downloadable products is available as an optional addition.

Premium Hosting costs $15.99/month and increases storage to 8 GB while providing unlimited email accounts, MySQL databases, FTP accounts and add-on domains. It includes the same Site Builder, shopping-cart facilities, responsive templates and SSL functionality as Basic Hosting. Basic and Premium hosting also include a 30-day money-back guarantee for new hosting customers.

Email facilities include POP3, SMTP and IMAP access, forwarding, autoresponders, catch-all handling, spam filtering and virus protection. Development and account-management features include PHP, Perl, CGI, SSI, Curl, password-protected directories, hotlink protection, redirects, custom error pages, access logs and traffic statistics.

The proprietary PappaShop Site Builder is one of the main distinguishing features of the service. It combines a CMS-style website editor with responsive templates and Mals-e shopping-cart integration. The system is suitable for merchants who prefer managing products and website content without manually building the complete store in HTML.

Domain registration and transfers are available through the customer billing system. Representative pricing includes .com, .net, .org and .us registrations at $19.95, while other extensions use their own registration, transfer and renewal rates.

The main company website is in English, while the WHMCS customer and ordering area supports numerous languages including Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Persian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. Hosting and domain prices are primarily offered in USD.

The company uses a noticeably older, compact website design with traditional static .htm sections. The interface belongs to an earlier generation of hosting websites and is less convenient than the streamlined ordering systems commonly used by modern hosting providers. PappaShop's customer-facing Site Builder is separate from this and includes a collection of mobile-responsive templates suitable for current websites.

There is one notable inconsistency in the General package specifications. The main hosting presentation lists 15,000 MB of bandwidth, while the detailed hosting comparison lists 1,500 MB. Customers interested in this package should confirm the applicable monthly transfer allocation before ordering.
