Founded in 2010 in Belgrade, Orion Telecom emerged from the merger of three pioneering alternative ISPs – Media Works, Neobee.net, and SezamPro. Though the company itself is young, its roots extend back more than 20 years in Serbian telecommunications. The choice of name was symbolic: Orion, the brightest constellation visible worldwide, reflected the company’s ambition to shine brightly in the Serbian and Balkan telecom markets.

What made Orion different from the outset was its strong ownership structure. Funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and supported by major European hedge funds, the company had financial credibility from day one. That foundation allowed Orion to quickly establish itself not only as an ISP but also as a serious hosting and data center player in Serbia.

Hosting Services – Built on Local Infrastructure

For individuals and businesses in Serbia, Orion Telecom promoted its hosting services as a smart alternative to international providers. With servers located locally in Belgrade, websites benefitted from reduced latency and better performance for domestic users.

The hosting lineup included premium SSD web hosting, VPS solutions, and managed hosting options. Customers could choose between Linux and Windows platforms, administered via the familiar cPanel or Plesk control panels. This made everyday tasks—such as email management, database configuration, and spam protection—accessible and user-friendly.

Orion emphasized its tailored hosting packages, designed based on feedback from thousands of users, and backed by 24/7 technical support in the local language. Specialized Solutions – E-Commerce, Streaming, and Reseller Hosting

Orion sought to diversify beyond basic hosting:

• E-Commerce: Through a partnership with TAU Commerce, Orion offered a turnkey online store platform with SEO optimization, marketing integrations, visitor tracking, and automated invoicing. Businesses could focus on sales while Orion handled the infrastructure.
