Omantel is one of Oman’s most important telecommunications and digital infrastructure companies, with a service portfolio that extends far beyond traditional web hosting. Oman Telecommunications Company SAOG was incorporated in 1999, while its telecommunications roots go back to 1980, when the General Telecommunications Organisation was established. The company became publicly listed in 2005 and continues to have strong government ownership through United International Telecommunications Investment and Projects LLC, which holds 51% and is wholly owned by the Oman Investment Authority.

Omantel combines telecommunications, connectivity, cloud computing, data centers, cybersecurity, managed IT and business software under a large national infrastructure operation. Its hosting-related portfolio includes Web Hosting, Domain Registration, VPS, Cloud Computing, Colocation, Data Center Services, Hosted Email, SaaS and Managed ICT services. This makes it more suitable for businesses wanting an integrated telecommunications and IT provider than for customers simply looking for inexpensive standalone shared hosting.

Smaller businesses can obtain hosting through the A'amali+ service. This package combines fixed business broadband with an .om domain, 1 GB web hosting space, 200 MB email storage, 50 GB traffic, one Microsoft SQL database, one MySQL database and one website or subdomain. Marketing SMS and Mobile PBX services are also included, creating a broader communications package rather than a simple hosting subscription.
