📄 Editorial Review
Oktawave is a Polish public-cloud and IaaS provider headquartered in Warsaw. Development of the platform began in 2009, with Maciej Kuźniar as its originator and chief architect, while commercial cloud services followed in 2012. Over the years, Oktawave developed from a Polish infrastructure project into a broader cloud-engineering business covering public cloud, migrations, managed operations, Kubernetes, disaster recovery and multicloud environments. The legal entity is Oktawave S.A. A major ownership change took place on June 22, 2022, when Netia acquired Oktawave from K2 Group in a transaction worth PLN 33.7 million. Netia S.A. now controls 100% of Oktawave shares, connecting the cloud platform with the wider Netia and Polsat Plus telecommunications group while retaining the Oktawave brand and technical organization.
This is primarily a cloud-infrastructure company rather than a conventional shared-hosting provider. Its portfolio is centered on virtual machines, storage, networking, Kubernetes, GPU computing, monitoring, disaster recovery and managed cloud operations instead of shared hosting, reseller accounts or bundled entry-level website packages.
Oktawave Cloud Instances (OCI) provide VMware-based virtual machines supporting Linux, Windows and FreeBSD. Resources can be resized as requirements change, while snapshots, clones and linked clones simplify deployment and recovery. Customers can also import and export virtual-machine images. Available system templates include Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora Server, OpenSUSE, FreeBSD and Windows Server. Infrastructure can be administered through the Oktawave Control Panel or automated through its REST API.
The storage portfolio includes Oktawave Volume Storage (OVS) and Oktawave Cloud Storage (OCS). OVS provides block storage for virtual-machine disks and demanding I/O workloads, with several performance classes extending to configurations designed for very high IOPS. Volumes can be attached, detached and moved between instances. OCS is suited to static files, archives, backups and larger data sets, with multiple-copy protection, object versioning, access controls and OpenStack Swift-compatible API access.
Networking services include Oktawave Private Network (OPN), public IP addressing, Floating IP functionality and load balancing. Private networks provide logical isolation between systems, while Floating IP addresses can be reassigned when applications move between servers. The separate Traffic Manager service provides DNS-based traffic steering and failover between servers, data centers and external environments, making it useful for hybrid infrastructure and high-availability deployments.
Oktawave Watch adds infrastructure and application monitoring, including external checks of websites and services, response-time measurements, availability monitoring and notifications through email and SMS. Monitoring integrates directly with cloud resources and provides historical reporting through the customer environment.
The Cloud GPU platform targets artificial intelligence, machine learning, data processing and accelerated computing. GPU options include NVIDIA A100, T4 and L4 accelerators and can be used with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX and Keras. This makes the platform relevant for AI inference, model training, scientific workloads and other applications where traditional CPU-only virtual machines are insufficient.
Oktawave Kubernetes Service (OKS) combines Kubernetes with OCI compute instances, private networking, storage, load balancing and public IP resources. Kubernetes control-plane infrastructure is not separately charged under the standard model; customers pay for the worker resources they consume. Organizations requiring operational assistance can instead use Managed Kubernetes, which adds architecture work, deployment, monitoring, upgrades and incident handling.
Disaster-recovery environments can be distributed between Warsaw and Krakow, allowing backup-and-restore, active/standby and active/active designs. Oktawave DNS, monitoring, automation and Terraform support can be combined to recreate infrastructure and redirect traffic during failures.
An important part of the current portfolio is Sovereign Cloud, designed around Polish and European data-residency requirements. Workloads can remain within Poland and therefore under Polish and EU jurisdiction. Oktawave also participates in the European IPCEI-CIS Next Generation Cloud initiative, including work involving sovereign infrastructure, interoperability, confidential computing and secure execution environments.
Oktawave is also a multicloud integrator. Migration and managed-cloud services cover Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, including architecture design, migration, administration, monitoring and cost optimization. This makes hybrid and multicloud projects an important part of the business rather than limiting customers exclusively to Oktawave infrastructure.
Security is stronger than what is normally expected from commodity VPS hosting. Oktawave maintains ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, ISO/IEC 27018 and ISO/IEC 22301 certifications together with CSA STAR and PCI DSS-related controls. These capabilities make the platform suitable for more demanding corporate, financial, healthcare and public-sector workloads.
The website is available in Polish and English. Some technical resources, including portions of the Knowledge Base and API documentation, remain Polish-oriented. The website itself is modern, responsive and suitable for both desktop and mobile use.
