📄 Editorial Review

NYI (New York Internet) is a long-established U.S. infrastructure provider founded in 1996 in New York City. The company grew from the early commercial Internet market into an enterprise infrastructure specialist covering colocation, dedicated bare-metal servers, hybrid cloud, managed services, disaster recovery, network interconnection and professional infrastructure engineering. Co-founder Phillip Koblence started NYI with his brother during the early Internet era, when the business initially handled services such as web development, dial-up Internet access and systems integration before expanding into mission-critical data-center infrastructure.

NYI is primarily suited to organizations that need customized infrastructure rather than inexpensive mass-market shared hosting. Its portfolio is particularly relevant to financial services, media and publishing companies, technology businesses, legal firms, real-estate organizations, life-sciences companies and other customers where uptime, physical infrastructure and network connectivity are important.

Colocation is one of the company's core services, combining cabinet and cage space with redundant power, connectivity, remote technical assistance and access to carrier-rich facilities in New York and Chicago. The New York presence is particularly important because NYI operates infrastructure inside 60 Hudson Street, one of Manhattan's best-known telecom and interconnection buildings. Customers can combine colocation with cloud connectivity, managed networking, security and administration rather than maintaining separate suppliers for each part of the environment.

Bare Metal provides dedicated single-tenant physical servers for applications that benefit from direct hardware access, predictable resources or greater isolation. These servers are suitable for CPU-intensive applications, storage-heavy systems, databases, virtualization and workloads where general-purpose public-cloud instances are not ideal. Hardware configurations can be customized around individual requirements, and suitable configurations can be provisioned on the same day.

Bare Metal can also form part of a broader hybrid infrastructure. A company can keep sensitive applications or databases on physical servers while connecting them directly to cloud resources, colocation equipment and external networks.

The Hybrid Cloud portfolio combines private infrastructure, public cloud services and dedicated systems. This approach is useful when an organization wants to migrate gradually toward cloud services without abandoning existing physical infrastructure. Private cloud, public cloud, Bare Metal and colocation can be incorporated into one architecture.

Private cloud connectivity is available through Megaport (megaport.com), including connections to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud. This gives customers a practical way to build multi-cloud and hybrid deployments without routing every connection across the public Internet.

Network & Interconnection is another important part of NYI's business. The infrastructure uses a fully meshed BGP4 network designed to avoid single points of failure. Available services include Layer 2 connectivity, dark fiber, high-capacity network connections, managed cross-connects and connectivity between important carrier hotels and Internet exchanges.

At 60 Hudson Street, customers have access to hundreds of carriers and network operators. Connectivity to DE-CIX provides additional peering and interconnection options, while Microsoft Azure Peering Service is also available through the DE-CIX relationship.

NYI operates AS11403, its own autonomous network with IPv4 and IPv6 routing. The network footprint extends across important New York and Chicago interconnection points and connects with major backbone providers.

The Managed Services portfolio goes well beyond basic server administration. Managed Hosting can include configuration, maintenance, storage, backups, monitoring and access to remote engineering services. Managed accounts can have primary and secondary technicians assigned, while the Network Operations Center monitors infrastructure around the clock.

Managed Network Services extend to routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN connectivity and cross-connects. NYI can also coordinate third-party carrier relationships, which can simplify administration for organizations operating complex multi-provider networks.

Managed Security covers firewall administration, DDoS detection and mitigation, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and managed VPN services. DDoS protection can automatically detect and respond to attacks, while penetration-testing services can identify weaknesses and provide assistance with remediation.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity can take advantage of geographically separated environments in New York and Chicago. Production infrastructure can remain in New York while recovery capacity is maintained in the Midwest, reducing the operational risk of keeping both environments in the same metropolitan area.

Recovery architectures can use VMware, Veeam and Zerto technology for replication, virtual-machine recovery and business-continuity planning. Environments can be configured around specific recovery point objectives and recovery time objectives when applications require defined restoration targets.

NYI also provides Cross Connect Fabric, giving customers a centralized way to manage interconnection between infrastructure and data-center resources. This can reduce the administrative overhead normally associated with conventional manually provisioned physical cross-connects.

NYI Smart PoP is aimed at international companies and network operators that want a U.S. infrastructure presence without independently arranging every logistical component. NYI can coordinate data-center space, hardware purchasing, equipment installation, network connectivity and engineering in markets including New York, Chicago and Miami.

The Web Optimization service, also known as Fault Tolerant Web, combines load balancing, caching, monitoring and security functions. It is useful for websites and online applications that need to cope with traffic spikes or require higher application availability without a complete redesign of the underlying platform.

Professional Services extend the portfolio into infrastructure consulting and migration work. Engineers and solution architects can assess existing environments, calculate total cost of ownership, design cloud and data-center architectures, plan migrations and implement the new infrastructure. Managed operations can then continue after deployment, giving organizations access to engineering resources without maintaining the same level of specialist expertise internally.

The company operates primarily in English and focuses on customized enterprise infrastructure rather than multilingual consumer hosting packages or retail hosting plans sold in multiple currencies.
