😠 I run a Sven-Coop server, an old mod for Half-Life 1 that lets players play hundreds of user created levels as well as the core Half-Life content with other people. Sven has tons of content, compatible mods and player models going back to 1998. The main limitation with these old Half-Life games is that they require a secondary file server for decent file transfer speeds. I was initially attracted to this company because their rates were unbeatable. They claimed unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth. Similar services online seemed to charge around 40-50 dollars for similar plans and were mired in deceptive manipulative advertisement.
This company has a plan for 4 dollars and is called their Lite plan. It seemed too good to be true and perhaps it was. For the most part the service worked and was stable. I used Filezilla to transfer files. I run a heavily modded Sven server and some of the mods I was using was requiring me to drastically increase the amount of data that I was using. I came to discover they had suddenly deleted all my files without telling me, only leaving a message on some log somewhere I had to find myself. Assuming that I had been hacked or that I had gone beyond some kind of datacap, I painstakingly used Filezilla to filter out about 30 different unnecessary file types from the transfer. Despite this I found all my files vaporized AGAIN, and this time without any notification anywhere.
After sending them an email I was met with the accusation that I had gone against their TOS because I had hosted "an entire game directory". Not only was this false, the whole directory would be the Sven-Coop folder, not the svencoop folder that lies within it, but I had made sure to literally remove any files that clients did not use. The people who were emailing me clearly did not understand how Sven Coop worked and how it is customary to host the svencoop folder or the svencoop_addon folder when setting up a Fastdl server. They claimed that I was hosting an entire game that someone could merely download off of steam, showing their continued ignorance of what they were talking about. Sven Coop has only a few gigabytes of data that comes with the game itself.
Not once did I ever receive an email alerting me that my services I am paying for were terminated and I am unable to even make a folder on their servers. I never received an apology or even an approximation of when my upload rights would be returned. After an interrogation period in which I had to explain how Sven-Coop worked and why I was uploading so many files, they eventually said that they had to talk to their CEO and that a maintenance order had to be performed to increase the amount of storage on the server that I am using. Of course this sounds nice on the surface but how can I wish to give money to a company who without warning can simply delete all of my content without any message, explanation or concern? I am sitting here attempting to ensure a stable and accessible server for a game with an already tiny playerbase and this company has forced me to take my server down multiple times or self-host it with piss-poor upload speed, giving my server a bad reputation as unreliable and slow.
They have shown absolutely no concern for what this has done for the community that I am attempting to foster or the inconvenience this has posed to not only me but for everyone else who plays on my server, is active within the discord for my server and any of the random people who would have otherwise taken my server seriously as a viable way to play the game. I am sitting here with absolutely no time table for when this "maintenance" will be performed and their general attitude has made me feel pressured to limit the growth of potentially new content that I may add to my server in the future knowing that at any given time they make decide to delete my content and harass me about a game they know nothing about.
They complained that the amount of data that I was using was causing complications with their system and effecting the performance of other users. I may have some degree of concern if the company did not state that the amount of data storage and transfer was INFINITE. If they are unable to meet this expectation then they should change their advertisement to reflect this. Harassing and hyper-fixating on the amount of content that someone is uploading when you claim infinite storage is bullshit. It shows that this company is yet another server company that manipulates the customer with false claims. It is obvious that the content that I am hosting is relevant to the game that I am hosting, if I am hosting an extra 3 gigabytes of game files out of my own personal convenience, that should be my issue and not theirs. I have a 8 terabyte external hard drive and this company is getting on my ass about using almost 100 gigs when their company pledges infinite storage? I understand that that is quite a lot of data for such an old game but that is reflective of the popularity and moddability of the game that I am playing. Surely a company that focuses on hosting content for games would understand the amount of content that some of these old games may contain.
Let us assume that the files that I had uploaded were not backups but in fact the only copy of the files that I had, due to perhaps a desire to switch files from one computer to another. I would have lost over a years work of effort because of the bullshit practices of this company and not even a shred of concern from them. I get the impression that I am being intentionally pressured to either lower the amount of files I am hosting or to quit their service due to their inability to meet their obligation for unlimited data. It is the only thing that explains why they would so callously delete my entire server contents without apology and without notice. Let us not forget that the amount of files that I must send to their servers can take roughly an entire day to send, with me usually sitting there ensuring that there are no errors. So they have also spit on my time as well, as whenever they decide to supposedly upgrade my storage capacity I will have to wait another day or two to actually use the damn server again.
Because of all of this I am considering upgrading my home internet so that I can avoid dealing with companies like this and just do it from home. Despite having the best rates and a very quick and responsive support team, I can't sit here and think that how they handled this situation is okay. Having my server ripped down, my files destroyed, no apology, no message or explanation and then on top of that to be accused of something that is not true and be subjected to an unknown waiting period to solve something that shouldn't be an issue is just ridiculous. If you claim unlimited storage, then you need to provide unlimited storage. Attempting to catch me on some kind of technicality to get around fulfilling that obligation is anti-consumer.

😁 Have been using NFO for over 6 years. I have had all types of servers with them, voice, game: battlefield, minecraft, and many others. They have always been great on the price and service they offer. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I will continue to use them as long as they are around.

😠 THIS IS TERRIBLE SITE!!! They allow animal and child porn like naleksuh.com does where the files are hidden and encrypted. This is terrible; also privacy violations are constant problem; this can not go on, FBI must close nfo servers forever. BE CAREFUL, DONT SEND CHILDREN TO THEIR HOSTS. Stay away from them otherwise your reputation will be irrevocaly damaged to say the least!
