📄 Editorial Review

Netcom Zimbabwe is a Harare-based web hosting and ICT company operating as Networked Computer Technologies T/A Netcom Zimbabwe. Established in 2009, the company has developed a broad service range for Zimbabwean businesses, combining web hosting, domain registration, business e-mail, website development, bulk SMS, networking and managed IT services.

The main hosting service is Linux shared hosting, with Starter, Standard and Business packages suitable for personal sites, company websites, CMS installations and business e-mail. Current packages use SSD storage and include unlimited bandwidth, a free Zimbabwean domain, databases, FTP access, a file manager, website statistics, a site builder and free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates. E-mail hosting is integrated into the packages, with encrypted IMAP/POP3 access and Roundcube webmail. Higher plans increase available storage and the number of supported mailboxes.

The hosting environment includes Softaculous one-click installation, PHP version selection, MySQL database management, cron jobs, domain pointers, FTP management, password-protected directories, custom error pages, Webalizer statistics and account backups. CloudLinux is used for shared-hosting resource management, while Softaculous provides straightforward installation of popular applications such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OpenCart, PrestaShop, Magento, Laravel and phpBB.

Domain registration is another important part of the service. Netcom supports Zimbabwean extensions including .co.zw, .org.zw and .ac.zw, together with common international extensions such as .com, .net and .org. Domain management includes nameserver changes, forwarding, locking, contact updates and domain privacy where applicable. Zimbabwean domain registration fits particularly well with the company's focus on local businesses and organizations.

Netcom also operates as a website development provider. Its work covers business websites, custom development, e-commerce, CMS projects, website maintenance, graphic design and online marketing. A basic five-page CMS website starts at approximately USD 200, while more advanced projects are handled according to individual requirements.

The broader ICT portfolio adds desktop and server support, network installation, Wi-Fi deployment, backups, cloud applications, managed IT and onsite technical assistance. This gives business customers the option of using the same provider for hosting and day-to-day IT requirements rather than separating these functions among several suppliers.

Bulk SMS is another established service, providing branded alphanumeric sender IDs, contact imports, delivery reports, scheduling, long messages, web-based messaging and HTTP API integration. Pricing starts at approximately USD 0.06 per SMS, with a USD 100 minimum purchase. SMS credit is prepaid. The ordering system specifies a 30-day validity period, while older contractual wording refers to 60 days, making the current validity period worth confirming before purchasing a large volume of messages.

Dedicated-server hosting is included within Netcom's hosting conditions, particularly in relation to root access, customer administration and backup responsibilities. Public hardware configurations and fixed retail pricing are not part of the current standard hosting range, so dedicated infrastructure is better suited to customers requesting a customized quotation.

The website operates in English and is primarily oriented toward Zimbabwean customers, while international domains and international payment arrangements make the service usable by customers outside the country as well.
