📄 Editorial Review

Net-Build is an established German web hosting, cloud infrastructure, and datacenter operator headquartered in Saarwellingen, Saarland, Germany. Founded in October 1999 by Patrick Bohn and Maik Hausknecht, the company has developed from a small hosting reseller into an infrastructure provider operating its own datacenter, managing physical servers, and delivering hosting services to individuals, businesses, developers, and IT resellers.

The business operates under Net-Build GmbH, a German limited liability company registered in Saarbrücken. Patrick Bohn serves as managing director and CEO, while Maik Hausknecht has been closely involved in the company's technical development since its establishment. Their early interest in computer systems and telecommunications eventually developed into a commercial operation focused on making websites and domain names more affordable at a time when hosting services were considerably more expensive than today.

Net-Build initially resold hosting resources from third-party providers before investing in its own equipment and placing physical servers in commercial datacenters. As the customer base expanded, dependence on external facilities became increasingly restrictive, particularly when physical maintenance or urgent troubleshooting was required. This encouraged a substantial infrastructure investment: the company constructed a new office building in 2014 and established its own SAAR 1 datacenter in 2016. Direct physical access to its infrastructure remains one of its most important operational advantages.

The company's portfolio covers Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Email Hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Managed VPS, Dedicated Servers, Managed Dedicated Servers, Cloud Hosting, Colocation, Domain Registration, SSL Certificates, Nextcloud Hosting, and a Website Builder. Most services operate on infrastructure located in Germany, making Net-Build particularly relevant to businesses seeking European data residency and direct access to a local infrastructure operator.

Net-Build maintains a modern, responsive website available in German, English, and French. Prices are primarily displayed in EUR, while the international storefront also supports USD and GBP. The modern interface is generally straightforward to navigate, although some older ordering interfaces remain accessible. Certain localized product configurations and technical specifications differ between service categories, making it worthwhile to confirm the selected configuration before completing an order.

The shared web hosting range serves personal websites, associations, small businesses, developers, and commercial projects. Five principal packages are available: Hosting Entry, Hosting Basic, Hosting Expert, Hosting Professional, and Hosting Performance.

Hosting Entry includes one domain, 50 GB of storage, five mailboxes, five FTP accounts, and one database. Higher packages progressively increase storage capacity to 750 GB and provide larger allocations for databases, mailboxes, and application resources. Hosting Professional includes 500 GB of storage and two PositiveSSL certificates, while Hosting Performance provides 750 GB, 1 GB of allocated application memory, unlimited mailboxes and databases, and three PositiveSSL certificates.

The shared hosting platform uses a clustered architecture with NVMe-based storage, modern processors, and IPv6 connectivity. Customers can work with Apache and Nginx, configure databases through MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL, and deploy applications using the Plesk administration environment.

PHP support includes both current releases and older versions required by legacy applications. Compatibility extends from PHP 5.6 through PHP 8.4 or 8.5, depending on the hosting configuration. Other development capabilities include Ruby on Rails, Perl, PHP Composer, Git integration, and one-click WordPress installation. This makes the platform suitable for both conventional websites and more specialized development projects.

Security features include a configurable Web Application Firewall, malware protection, spam filtering, encrypted FTP connections, and daily backups. Customers can also create backups directly through Plesk, while separate backup infrastructure provides additional recovery capabilities. Hosting packages include unlimited transfer volume, subject to the applicable service conditions.

The website builder offers a convenient alternative for customers without programming experience. It includes more than 140 templates and allows users to create navigation menus, forms, and common website elements through a visual interface. The builder is included with shared hosting packages, making it useful for small businesses that need a functional website without hiring a developer.

For agencies and entrepreneurs interested in selling hosting services, the reseller hosting range includes Reseller Expert and Reseller Professional. Both support unlimited customer accounts, independently configurable hosting packages, and administration through Plesk. Reseller Expert includes 750 GB of storage, 500 mailboxes, and 100 databases, while Reseller Professional increases storage to 1.5 TB and removes the fixed mailbox and database limits.

Net-Build also provides Reseller and Agency Servers for businesses that require more predictable computing resources than conventional shared hosting. Agency Server Web Admin starts with four CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, and 300 GB NVMe storage. Web Pro increases resources to eight cores, 16 GB RAM, and 400 GB storage, while Web Host provides 16 cores, 32 GB RAM, and 500 GB storage. These servers include Plesk, IPv6 connectivity, and backup services.

The virtual root server range targets experienced administrators requiring complete control over their operating systems and installed software. The virtualization infrastructure uses AMD EPYC processors, DDR4 ECC memory, and hyperconverged NVMe storage.

Three principal configurations provide between four and 16 CPU cores, 8–32 GB RAM, and 300–500 GB storage. Customers receive full root access and can install their preferred applications, configure operating systems, and manage virtual machines through a dedicated interface. Backup protection is optional on unmanaged configurations, allowing experienced administrators to choose their own recovery strategy.

For customers who prefer technical administration to be handled by the provider, virtual managed servers combine comparable AMD EPYC-based resources with operating system maintenance, software updates, Plesk administration, daily backups, and continuous monitoring.

The managed VPS range includes Expert, Professional, and Performance configurations, with four, eight, or 16 CPU cores, 8–32 GB RAM, and 300–500 GB NVMe storage. Net-Build handles routine server maintenance and responds to monitored service failures, allowing customers to concentrate on their websites, applications, and business operations.

A separate Virtual Root Plesk Server category combines root-level administration with licensed Plesk software. Customers can choose Web Admin, Web Pro, or Web Host editions according to the number of domains and customer accounts they need to manage. This arrangement is particularly useful for developers requiring full system access while retaining a familiar hosting administration interface.

The dedicated root server range provides physical hardware for customers whose applications require isolated computing resources. Net-Build uses Intel Xeon E-series processors, Kingston ECC memory, Micron NVMe storage, and Adaptec RAID controllers.

Root Server Expert includes an Intel Xeon E-2314 with four cores, 16 GB RAM, and two 240 GB NVMe drives. Root Server Professional upgrades to a six-core Xeon E-2336, 32 GB RAM, and two 960 GB NVMe drives. Root Server Performance includes an eight-core Xeon E-2378, 64 GB RAM, and two 1.92 TB NVMe drives.

RAID 1 storage provides drive redundancy, while standard network connectivity operates at 1 Gbps. Higher-speed uplinks can be arranged, with 10 Gbps and potentially 40 or 100 Gbps connectivity available for specialized deployments. Customers can select operating systems and obtain additional software licenses when required.

The managed dedicated server range uses similar physical hardware but adds professional system administration, software maintenance, security patches, monitoring, and Plesk Web Host Edition. Daily backups are included with standard seven-day retention, while extended retention options are available.

Managed dedicated servers are particularly appropriate for companies running commercial applications, important databases, or multiple websites that require dedicated computing resources without employing their own full-time server administrators.

Net-Build's cloud hosting platform provides flexible, self-service virtual infrastructure rather than conventional fixed-price VPS packages. Customers can create, start, stop, reinstall, or delete virtual machines through a browser-based management interface and organize their resources into separate projects.

Cloud configurations support between one and 64 CPU cores, approximately 4–64 GB RAM, and 20 GB to 1 TB NVMe storage per instance. Linux and Windows operating systems are supported, while automated provisioning can use technologies such as cloud-init. Browser-based VNC console access, power controls, additional IP addresses, and application deployment tools are also available.

Resource consumption determines cloud hosting costs, with usage calculated at the end of each month and displayed in the management interface. This approach is especially useful for development environments, testing, temporary workloads, and applications with changing resource requirements.

Another useful product is Nextcloud hosting, which provides a privately hosted collaboration and file-storage platform in Germany. Customers can synchronize files across desktop and mobile devices, manage calendars and contacts, share documents securely, and collaborate through browser-based applications.

The platform supports document editing, CalDAV and CardDAV synchronization, password-protected sharing links, expiration dates, and Nextcloud Talk for messaging and video communication. Three packages accommodate between five and 25 users, with storage allocations ranging from 50 GB to 500 GB. This offers a practical alternative for businesses that prefer to keep collaborative data within German infrastructure.

Standalone email hosting is available independently of website hosting. The entry package includes three mailboxes and 5 GB storage, while larger configurations support up to ten mailboxes and 50 GB. Packages include a .de domain, SSL support, spam and virus filtering, email forwarding, aliases, mailing lists, autoresponders, and webmail access.

For domain registration, Net-Build supports more than 700 domain extensions, covering common international and country-code TLDs. Registration, renewal, transfer, and DNS administration are available. Redundant DNS infrastructure supports domain resolution, while larger portfolios can be managed through the automated Domainrobot service.

SSL certificate options include domain-validated, wildcard, and extended-validation certificates, including products issued by Sectigo. Let's Encrypt certificates are also supported with compatible hosting services, although activation may involve an additional service charge on certain configurations.

Finally, colocation and rack hosting allow customers to install their own hardware within Net-Build's datacenter. Options range from individual 2U rack allocations to half racks and complete cabinets. Dedicated power circuits, network connectivity, IP allocations, physical access, and remote management facilities are available.

Net-Build also maintains an active technology blog covering infrastructure, networking, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and related developments. Articles dated October 10, 2026 address satellite and mobile networking alongside AI-assisted software development. The company has also experimented with locally hosted AI models, demonstrating continued interest in modern computing technologies beyond its established hosting operations.
