NameSilo is a U.S. domain registrar and web-services company launched in 2010 by Michael Goldfarb and Michael McCallister. The business behind the service began slightly earlier, with NameSilo, LLC established in 2009 before the registrar operation went live the following year.

The company developed from a domain-focused registrar into a broader provider of online services and now manages more than 5 million active domains for customers in over 170 countries. Its current portfolio includes domain registration and transfers, shared hosting, WordPress hosting, business email, Google Business Email, SSL certificates, Premium DNS, domain marketplace services, reseller tools, API access, website-building tools and domain portfolio management.

A major corporate change took place in 2018, when Brisio Innovations Inc. acquired NameSilo. The acquisition was completed on August 7, 2018, with a purchase price of approximately $9.51 million plus an earnout of roughly $2.55 million. The business later became part of NameSilo Technologies Corp., which holds a controlling interest in NameSilo, LLC.

Domains remain the core of the business. More than 400 domain extensions are available, with free WHOIS privacy on eligible extensions, email forwarding, DNS management, custom WHOIS records and Domain Defender security features. WHOIS privacy is enabled by default where registry policies permit it.

The domain platform is particularly useful for customers managing large portfolios. Bulk management, sub-accounts, automatic renewal controls, portfolio organization, domain locking, forwarding and DNS tools are all integrated into the same account. An API is also available for automating registrations, renewals, DNS changes and other domain-management operations.

NameSilo operates its own Domain Marketplace for buying and selling domain names. Customers can list names for direct purchase, use supported payment plans and participate in marketplace transactions without moving domains to a separate platform. The reseller program and API make the company suitable for agencies, hosting providers and domain investors that want to integrate domain services into their own systems.

The hosting range is based on Linux shared hosting, with Starter, Premium and Turbo plans. Starter includes 20 GB storage for one website and a 100,000-inode allowance. Premium supports three websites with 20 GB storage and 200,000 inodes, while Turbo increases capacity to 60 GB, ten websites and 400,000 inodes. CPU allocations scale from two cores on Starter to four on Premium and six on Turbo, while Turbo includes 1,000 GB bandwidth.

Hosting accounts include email, a website builder, WordPress installation tools and daily backups. Turbo also includes SSL, while SSL can be added separately to lower hosting levels. The service is well suited to personal sites, blogs, small business websites and customers who prefer to keep domain registration and hosting together.

Professional email is available through Titan Business Email and Google Business Email. Titan includes Professional, Premium and Ultra tiers with storage ranging from 10 GB to 100 GB per mailbox. Higher levels include features such as read receipts, email templates, scheduled sending, backup, secure file transfer, appointment booking and AI-assisted email tools. A basic Titan mailbox can also be included with qualifying hosting accounts.

Google Business Email provides the familiar Gmail and Google Workspace environment, including Google Drive, Calendar, Meet and other collaboration tools, with storage based on the selected Google Workspace plan.

SSL certificates are available separately, including Positive SSL, Essential SSL and Extended Validation options. Certificates use modern SHA-2 signing and 2048-bit encryption and can be reissued during their active subscription period.

NameSilo also provides Premium DNS, adding a distributed DNS environment, stronger redundancy and additional DDoS resilience beyond the standard DNS service included with domains.
