MySite was an older U.S. hosting brand tied to United Online Web Services, built mainly for small businesses, personal sites, blogs, and simple web projects that needed an easy starting point rather than advanced infrastructure. For a long time, the service followed the classic entry-level hosting model: straightforward plans, bundled email, basic site-building tools, and enough features for customers who wanted to get online without much technical work.

Their main offer centered on Shared Hosting and VPS Hosting, with related services around domain registration, email, and basic website management. The shared hosting side was clearly the core of the business. Those plans included email accounts, spam and virus filtering, remote email access, site builder tools, file manager, and domain manager. Paid hosting tiers also added FTP access, WordPress support, PHP, MySQL, Perl, and a collection of older website extras such as photo slideshow, guestbook, counter, forms, emailer, and even Microsoft FrontPage support. That product mix made sense in an earlier era, especially for customers who wanted everything in one account and did not need modern cloud features.

The VPS range looked more like a secondary upgrade path than a major infrastructure product. It included free domain registration, unlimited POP email accounts, multiple subdomains, and dedicated IP addresses, which was useful for customers moving beyond entry-level hosting, but it never looked like a serious modern VPS platform aimed at developers or enterprise users.

The real issue came later. By 2025 and still into April 2026, MySite looked abandoned rather than maintained. The company website remained online, but the whole service gave the impression of a legacy brand left behind for years. The design was very dated, the storefront felt neglected, HTTPS was not properly enforced, and even the domain registration flow no longer looked functional, which raised serious doubts about whether the business was still actively operating as a real hosting provider. There was no clearly published final closure date for MySite itself, but the wider corporate timeline matters here: United Online acquired About’s consumer web-hosting business on April 5, 2004, and United Online was acquired by B. Riley Financial on July 1, 2016. After that, MySite increasingly looked like a dormant leftover brand rather than an actively developed hosting company.

The website was English-only, and pricing was shown in USD, which matched its U.S.-focused market position.
