MCO2 is a Brazilian web-hosting and email provider established in 1996, originally operating under the Topnet name. Its long history makes it one of Brazil’s more experienced independent hosting companies, with a practical focus on small and medium-sized businesses, developers, web designers and hosting resellers.

The company operates legally as MCO2 Serviços de Internet Ltda., under CNPJ 12.349.388/0001-10, and maintains its headquarters in São Paulo. Its infrastructure hosts more than 9,000 domains, while the business remains compact enough to provide direct assistance rather than relying entirely on automated support channels.

MCO2 concentrates on traditional hosting services instead of maintaining a broad cloud-computing catalog. Its products include PHP hosting, ASP.NET hosting, WordPress hosting, professional email, reseller hosting, transactional email delivery, a website builder, MySQL databases, Microsoft SQL Server databases, SSL certificates, DNS management and assistance with .br domain registrations.

Customers can choose between five shared-hosting plans. Every plan can operate on either the PHP platform or the Windows ASP.NET platform. The entry package includes 5 GB of website storage, ten email accounts with 5 GB per mailbox and 50 GB of monthly data transfer. The largest package increases these limits to 40 GB of website storage, 150 email accounts with 15 GB each and 400 GB of monthly transfer.

The PHP environment combines Apache, nginx and FastCGI processing with MySQL 8. Customers can select from several PHP generations, including modern PHP 8 releases and older versions intended for legacy applications. Runtime settings can be adjusted through .htaccess and .user.ini, while database creation and backup generation are integrated into the hosting account.

Its Windows hosting is particularly useful for Brazilian companies that still depend on Microsoft technologies. The platform uses Windows Server 2022 and IIS 10, supporting classic ASP, .NET Framework and ASP.NET Core applications. Each account receives an independent IIS application process, and customers can configure application directories or restart the application pool through the control panel.

Microsoft SQL Server 2022 is offered as an additional resource for Windows-hosting customers. Databases operate on dedicated SQL Server systems connected to the web servers through an internal network. A standard database includes 500 MB of storage, daily backups retained for seven days and weekly backups retained for up to one month. Compatibility modes are available for applications originally developed for older SQL Server releases.

WordPress hosting adds automatic image optimization, caching, protected login functions, firewall protection and HTTPS encryption. MCO2 also integrates WP SafePress, its exclusive WordPress plugin for security and performance management.

Professional email is included with the hosting plans and can also be used independently from the website service. Mailboxes provide up to 15 GB each, depending on the selected package, and support IMAP, POP3, webmail, TLS encryption, anti-spam filtering, contacts, calendars, customized rules and message tracking.

Customers may host their website elsewhere while keeping email at MCO2. The opposite configuration is also possible, allowing a website to remain on MCO2’s servers while email is routed to an external provider.

The website builder includes more than 200 customizable templates, responsive page layouts, a visual editor, maps, videos, contact forms, search-engine settings and social-network integration. It can create multilingual customer websites, although MCO2’s own website and customer information are available in Portuguese. No multi-language localized version exists.

Transactional email delivery is handled through exclusive SMTP servers intended for automated operational messages such as invoices, payment slips, receipts, order confirmations and system notifications. It is not intended for newsletters, unsolicited prospecting or advertising campaigns. Monthly delivery allowances range from 10,000 to 200,000 messages, depending on the hosting package, and the associated website must remain hosted at MCO2.

The reseller platform operates as a genuine white-label service. Resellers receive personalized name servers, define their own customer prices and create independent PHP or ASP.NET hosting accounts. MCO2 remains invisible to the reseller’s customers, while the reseller handles billing and first-level support.

A reseller operation begins with at least three hosting accounts: one for the reseller’s primary domain and two for customers. Progressive discounts start at 20% and can reach 60% for resellers maintaining at least 40 accounts.

Websites, email accounts, databases and DNS services are separated across different server platforms. This distributed structure reduces the likelihood that a single service problem will interrupt every component of a hosted account at the same time.

All products are priced in Brazilian reais. The Portuguese interface, local currency and boleto-based billing make MCO2 especially suitable for Brazilian customers and agencies serving the domestic market.
