Maytech is a UK-based secure managed file transfer and cloud file-sharing specialist whose service activity dates to 2006. The underlying company, Maytech Communications Ltd, was incorporated in 1996, giving the business a considerably longer corporate history than the current file-transfer platform itself. Antony Freeman founded the company and remains Executive Chairman, while John Lynch serves as CEO. Since November 2023, Maytech has been owned by Kiteworks, extending its secure file-transfer technology into the wider Kiteworks Private Content Network portfolio.

Maytech is not a conventional web hosting company. Its core business covers Managed File Transfer, hosted SFTP, secure cloud file sharing, automated file transfer, secure data rooms, data acquisition and cloud archiving. Shared Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Servers, Reseller Hosting and domain-registration packages are not part of its service range, making Maytech much more relevant to organizations exchanging sensitive or large business files than to customers looking for ordinary website hosting.

The main platform is Quatrix, an enterprise-oriented managed file transfer environment for sending, receiving, storing and automating files. HTTPS and SFTP access are combined with AES-256 encryption at rest, PGP encryption, two-factor authentication, SSO, antivirus scanning, IP restrictions, detailed auditing and granular user and group permissions.

Quatrix also works well as a controlled collaboration environment. Project Folders can operate as secure data rooms where employees, external partners and restricted users receive different upload and download rights. Administrators can limit users to designated directories and maintain detailed visibility over account activity and transfers.

Automation is another important part of Quatrix. File-transfer workflows can move and synchronize information between Quatrix, SFTP servers, cloud platforms and internal systems without requiring users to manually handle every transfer. REST APIs, API keys, MuleSoft, Zapier, Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook integration expand the platform beyond simple browser-based file exchange. A secure upload widget can also be incorporated into a business website for external file collection.

Quatrix China addresses one of the more specialized requirements in international file transfer: reliable movement of large files into and out of mainland China. Optimized connectivity helps reduce the transfer instability and poor performance that can occur across the Great Firewall. This makes the service particularly useful for international manufacturing, engineering, media and production workflows involving Chinese offices, suppliers or customers.

Quatrix Archive extends the platform into long-term cloud storage for data that must be retained but does not require frequent access. It complements the active transfer environment without forcing organizations to keep archived information permanently in primary Quatrix storage.

FTP-Stream is Maytech's older hosted FTP and SFTP platform. It supports SFTP, FTP and HTTPS, activity logging and corporate identity features, but it has become a legacy service. Existing FTP-Stream customers are being transitioned toward Kiteworks multitenant, with both platforms available during an interim migration period. Customers remaining on FTP-Stream can continue until the end of their current agreement, while future renewals move toward the Kiteworks environment.

Security and compliance are central to the service. Maytech has maintained ISO 27001 certification for many years and also maintains Cyber Essentials Plus. Quatrix includes controls suitable for organizations working under GDPR, HIPAA and PCI-DSS requirements. HTTPS and SFTP protect transfers, AES-256 protects stored information, and additional controls include PGP, 2FA, SSO, IP restrictions, configurable retention and detailed access policies.

The corporate website is mainly available in English. The Quatrix application itself supports English, German and Chinese, which is useful for international teams and organizations operating across European and Asian markets.
