ManagedWay is a privately held Michigan infrastructure provider with technical roots reaching back to 2001 and commercial operations under the ManagedWay name since 2005. Founder Rob Sanders remains associated with the business, which has developed from a regional hosting operation into a broader provider of cloud infrastructure, managed hosting, bare-metal servers, colocation, backup services, and enterprise connectivity.

The company expanded considerably in May 2015 through the acquisition of Waveform Technology. The transaction included Waveform’s data-center operations, customers, employees, and metro-fiber assets, adding the facility at 319 Executive Drive and strengthening ManagedWay’s network presence across Southeast Michigan. ManagedWay now owns and operates two data centers in Troy, Michigan.

Its cloud infrastructure combines AMD EPYC processors, all-NVMe Ceph storage with triple replication, and a high-capacity internal network reaching 400 Gbps. Virtual Servers support Linux and Windows deployments, adjustable resources, custom images, and migrations from VMware, Hyper-V, VMDK, qcow2, OVA, and raw-disk environments.

Virtual Data Centers provide reserved pools of processing power, memory, and storage from which customers can create and manage multiple virtual machines. Private Cloud environments add dedicated compute, storage, and networking resources for organizations requiring greater isolation, predictable capacity, or customized architecture.

Bare Metal Servers use dedicated AMD EPYC hardware, local NVMe storage, optional Ceph storage, root access, and out-of-band management. Custom configurations can include GPUs, specialist expansion cards, additional storage, or other application-specific hardware.

Managed Backups cover both ManagedWay cloud systems and external infrastructure. Cloud workloads can use Ceph snapshots, while other servers can be protected through BackupPC or rsync over SSH. ManagedWay also supports customized Proxmox clusters, application platforms, backup systems, private email infrastructure, collaboration software, Linux environments, and hybrid-cloud deployments. Migration projects can include image conversion, parallel testing, scheduled cutovers, network changes, and direct engineering support.

Colocation ranges from a single 1U server to quarter racks, half racks, full cabinets, private cages, and dedicated suites. High-density installations can exceed 30 kW per rack when the power and cooling design supports the requirement. Standard Smart Hands covers routine physical work such as equipment inspections, reboots, cable changes, drive replacement, optic replacement, and equipment photography. Smart Hands Elite extends this service to installation, structured cabling, configuration work, equipment receiving, decommissioning, and secure media destruction.

Connectivity services include fiber Internet from 100 Mbps to 100 Gbps, wholesale IP transit, point-to-point Ethernet, EPL, EVPL, VPLS, EVP-LAN, dedicated wavelengths, DWDM, dark fiber, fixed wireless, and LTE failover. IPv4 and IPv6 are supported alongside full, partial, or default BGP routing, BFD, MD5 authentication, routing communities, IRR filtering, and remote-triggered blackholing.
