Mailo is a French, privacy-focused email and collaboration provider rather than a traditional web hosting company. Its strongest services are mail hosting, custom-domain email, cloud storage, calendar, contacts, photo albums, office collaboration, family email, children-safe email, school email, association email, municipality email, and professional Mail & Cloud services. It is not a classic provider for VPS, dedicated servers, colocation, or full cPanel-style shared hosting.

The company’s history goes back to 1998, when Pascal Voyat and Philippe Lenoir launched Francemail. The service became Francemel in 1999, then NetCourrier under the Lagardère Group, before the founders bought it back in 2007 through Mail Object. The Mailo brand arrived in 2019, continuing the older French webmail platform with a stronger European privacy and sovereignty identity. Mailo SAS is registered in France with €75,000 capital, and LinkedIn lists the company in the 11-50 employee range.

Mailo’s core product line starts with Mailo Free, which includes 1 GB mailbox storage, 500 MB cloud storage, 5 aliases, webmail, calendar, address book, virtual disk, photo albums, IMAP access, mobile app access, anti-spam, antivirus, two-factor authentication, PGP support, and advertising banners. This free plan is useful for basic personal mail, but the storage and support level are limited.

The paid Mailo Premium plan is the main individual offer. It adds 20 GB mailbox storage, 5 GB cloud storage, up to 100 aliases, no advertising, POP3 / IMAP4 access, automatic forwarding, exclusive Mailo domains, an address-for-life benefit, 50 MB attachments, and Premium support. Premium+ expands the model up to 500 GB of shared Mail & Cloud capacity and adds OnlyOffice (onlyoffice.com) document editing.

For households, Mailo Family includes Premium benefits for five Mailo accounts under one family space. This is a practical option for users who want private family mail, shared organization tools, child-safe email, shared contacts, and shared calendars without relying on a large advertising-driven email ecosystem.

For professionals, Mailo Pro is the most relevant commercial product. It includes custom domains, shared Mail & Cloud storage, centralized account administration, distribution lists, mailbox sharing, OnlyOffice, calendars, contacts, shared files, migration tools, DKIM / DMARC / SPF, anti-spam, anti-virus, priority support, and scalable team management. The Pro range covers small teams from 2 accounts and can scale up to 2,000 accounts with modular storage.

Mailo also has specialized offers for schools, children, associations, municipalities, and public or sovereignty-sensitive organizations. Mailo Junior is built for protected children’s email. Mailo Edu targets schools. Municipality offers provide local email environments for town halls and public communication. Mailo Secure Cloud is the higher-end sovereign cloud version, using 3DS OUTSCALE (outscale.com) infrastructure, SecNumCloud positioning, geographic redundancy, OnlyOffice, Vade (vadesecure.com) security filtering, and Rainbow by Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (al-enterprise.com) for chat and video.

The hosting component exists, but it is secondary. Mailo supports domain registration, domain transfer, custom-domain email, Mailo Spaces, and small website hosting. Free website publishing is limited to 10 MB, while the terms also allow website hosting inside a Mailo Space with PHP, MySQL, web-interface updates, and FTP access. This is better suited for simple personal, family, association, or organizational pages, not for heavy commercial web hosting.

Localization is excellent. The platform supports many languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Turkish, Polish, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, and many other European languages.
