📄 Editorial Review
Linkclub is a long-established Japanese Internet services and hosting brand operated by Kai Creates Inc. The Linkclub service dates back to 1994, while Kai Creates was established in April 1990. The company expanded into ISP services in 1996 and commercial hosting in 2002, giving it more than two decades of direct experience with hosting and an even longer history in Japan's Internet market. Kai Creates is headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, with Yuko Kobayashi serving as CEO.Linkclub has developed beyond conventional shared hosting into a broader Internet services operation covering Linux hosting, Windows hosting, domains, email hosting and broadband Internet access. The service portfolio is unusual because several generations of hosting platforms continue to coexist. This gives existing customers continuity for older applications, although new customers need to choose carefully because some of the legacy environments use software generations that are no longer suitable for modern projects.
The most appropriate service for a new customer is KUKULI, Linkclub's newer shared hosting platform. KUKULI combines a domain name, website hosting and email into a single package with 100GB of web storage, 100GB of total mail capacity, unlimited traffic and up to 100 email accounts. It includes WordPress installation, free Let's Encrypt SSL, WAF protection, SSH/SFTP access and cron support.
KUKULI uses Ubuntu with Apache 2.4 and combines RAID10 server storage with a Ceph clustered storage system. FTP accounts are unlimited, while developers can work with PHP, Python, Perl and Ruby. MySQL and PostgreSQL databases are available together with phpMyAdmin and phpPgAdmin, and normal Apache functionality such as mod_rewrite and .htaccess is supported.
WordPress users receive automatic installation and update functionality. Email accounts support SMTP, POP3 and IMAP together with webmail, spam filtering, virus scanning, forwarding and encrypted connections. FortiGuard technology is used for mail security. The webmail system supports more than 80 languages, although Linkclub's commercial interface, documentation and customer support remain primarily Japanese.
One limitation of KUKULI is its software generation. Its technical specifications include PHP versions up to 7.4, MySQL 5.7, PostgreSQL 9.3 and older Python generations. These versions make the platform more suitable for conventional websites and established applications than for developers who specifically require the newest PHP, database or programming environments.
LHX — Linkclub Hosting X is the older Linux shared hosting platform. It includes 120GB of storage, unmetered traffic subject to resource-use limitations, multi-domain operation and a proprietary browser-based management interface. Customers can test the complete hosting environment through a 15-day free trial, and there is no minimum contract period.
LHX nevertheless belongs to an older generation of hosting. The technical environment includes CentOS 5, PHP 5, MySQL 5 and an old phpMyAdmin release. This makes LHX difficult to recommend for a new website where current software, security patches and modern application compatibility are important. Its main value is continuity for long-standing customers with applications specifically built around the older environment.
LHS — Linkclub Hosting Service is the company's Windows-oriented hosting platform. It is designed for customers requiring Microsoft technologies and supports Microsoft SQL Server, ASP, IIS, Microsoft Access, PHP, Perl CGI and SSI. The standard configuration provides 400MB of web storage and as many as 200 email accounts with up to 30GB of combined mail capacity. Monthly data transfer is unmetered.
LHS includes mailing lists, aliases, autoresponders, spam protection, antivirus filtering, webmail and traffic statistics. Its Windows and ASP capabilities make it potentially useful for older corporate applications that still depend on Microsoft hosting technologies, although the overall platform is clearly intended more for legacy workloads than newly developed websites.
Domain services remain another important part of Linkclub. L.D.P — Linkclub Domain Parking handles registration, renewal and domain transfers, with DNS administration, automatic renewal and WHOIS privacy for supported extensions. Linkclub also participates directly in the Japanese domain ecosystem as a JPRS member and designated operator for .jp domains.
L.D.M — Linkclub Domain Mail provides domain-based email without requiring customers to purchase a complete web hosting package. This can be useful for businesses that only need professional email accounts attached to their own domain.
The company also operates LIC — Linkclub Internet Connection, covering broadband access through NTT FLET'S fiber services. Some older broadband services have been discontinued for new customers, but the continued presence of ISP, domain, hosting and email operations demonstrates the unusually broad scope of the Linkclub business.
Kai Creates also develops mail, web, authentication and clustered storage systems for external organizations. Its infrastructure experience includes systems supplied to cable television companies and apartment-building Internet providers, giving the company technical experience beyond ordinary retail shared hosting.
All principal commercial services are aimed at the Japanese market, prices are quoted in Japanese yen (JPY) and no complete multilingual/localized version exists for the hosting storefront. Customers who do not read Japanese will therefore face difficulties with ordering, administration documentation and support.
The visual presentation varies significantly between product families. KUKULI is substantially more modern, while LHX, LHS, LDP and several other sections retain an older desktop-era layout and navigation structure. The result is a fragmented customer experience, especially when moving between different Linkclub services.
