*📜 Plan description
Personal (Onyx) is built for a single WordPress site and starts with a 30-day free trial, then month-to-month billing. The card lists 20,000 visits, 5 GB NVMe storage and daily backups (option to upgrade to hourly). Each WordPress site is deployed into two containers (1 GB RAM and 1 CPU core each), for 2 GB RAM and 2 cores per site; AMD EPYC CPUs, LiteSpeed caching, edge caching and a worldwide CDN underpin performance. A free SSL is included; staging environments, instant deployment, live analytics and a visual dashboard for cache/CDN are part of Onyx. Security includes automated patching, malware scans, CloudLinux isolation, firewalls and 2,000 Gbps DDoS protection. Email is not bundled but mailboxes can be added during checkout. Ideal for personal projects and small business brochures that want managed performance without sysadmin overhead.
Onyx managed WordPress common block: all plans run on Krystal’s in-house Onyx platform with application-level high availability and a 99.99% uptime promise. You get a 30-day free trial, free migrations, free SSL, edge caching and CDN allowances, automatic core updates, and staging with up to two simultaneous staging sites per live site. Support is provided by UK WordPress specialists via tickets, live chat, email and phone. Prices shown include VAT when toggled; pay by card, PayPal or bank transfer. Containers scale on demand, and there are no surprise overage fees for unexpected bursts—Krystal notifies you and recommends upgrades if traffic consistently exceeds plan limits.

📄 Editorial Review
Krystal is an independent UK web hosting and cloud infrastructure provider founded in 2002 by Simon Blackler, who started the business at the age of 17. After more than two decades under its founder, the company made an important management change on September 17, 2024, when Dave Kimberley became CEO. Blackler remained involved as a director and major shareholder, preserving the independent ownership structure that has characterized Krystal throughout its history. The business operates as Krystal Hosting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Krystal has grown considerably from its original shared-hosting operation. By September 2026, it had 44,786 active customers, 301,385 hosted websites and 115,056 managed domains, placing it among the more substantial independent hosting companies in the United Kingdom.
Sustainability is an unusually important part of the business. Energy consumption is matched with renewable energy, Krystal is a Certified B Corporation and a member of 1% for the Planet, and its security and operational credentials include ISO 27001 certification and Cyber Essentials Plus. By September 2026, its environmental program had also funded more than 5.2 million planted trees.
Growth has included several acquisitions. Smart Hosting joined Krystal in 2017 in a transaction involving 8,388 accounts and an offer of £1.5 million. Software specialist aTech followed in 2020 with an offer exceeding £1 million, while EveryCity was acquired in 2021 after reaching approximately £160,000 in monthly turnover, again with an offer above £1 million. Smaller hosting customer bases have also been integrated into Krystal over the years, and the company continues to consider acquisitions of UK hosting businesses.
The current portfolio covers Domains, Shared Web Hosting, Business Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Managed WordPress, Website Builder, VPS, Public Cloud, Virtual Machines, Block Storage, File Storage, Object Storage, Cloud Backups, Container Registry, GPU infrastructure, DNS, Load Balancing, CDN and Managed Cloud services. Managed Solutions extend the range to private and hybrid infrastructure, cloud migrations, DevOps and management of Krystal infrastructure as well as environments running on AWS and Microsoft Azure.
Shared Web Hosting is Linux-based and combines cPanel, NVMe storage, LiteSpeed, CloudLinux account isolation, free SSL certificates, automatic backups, application installation and DDoS protection. Amethyst provides one website, 10 GB of NVMe storage, 1 CPU core and 2 GB RAM. Ruby increases capacity to five websites, 25 GB of storage, 2 CPU cores and 4 GB RAM while adding a free domain. Emerald and the larger packages increase resources further and include 4-hourly backups, lower-contention infrastructure and PCI-DSS scan-compatible hosting. Sapphire, Diamond and Tanzanite progressively increase CPU and RAM for busier websites and more resource-intensive applications.
Business Hosting begins at the Emerald resource level and is intended for commercial sites, online stores and other applications that need more processing capacity than entry-level shared hosting. More frequent backups, stronger resource allocations and PCI-DSS-related capabilities make it more suitable for revenue-generating websites than the smallest shared plans.
Reseller Hosting uses cPanel and WHM and remains a proper white-label reseller environment rather than simply allowing multiple domains inside one hosting account. Unity supports 25 cPanel accounts with 25 GB NVMe storage, Trinity increases this to 50 accounts and 100 GB, while Infinity supports 100 accounts and 250 GB. Private nameservers are available, and the larger packages add reseller-oriented tools including WHMCS.
Managed WordPress operates on the Onyx platform rather than as a basic WordPress installation inside conventional shared hosting. Personal starts with one WordPress installation, 5 GB NVMe storage and capacity suitable for approximately 20,000 visits. Business raises storage and traffic allowances and adds hourly backups and CDN traffic, while Agency is designed for several client websites and begins with five installations. Intelligent security, WordPress-specific caching and management, migration assistance and CDN integration distinguish Onyx from the standard cPanel service. A 30-day free trial is available for these plans.
The Website Builder provides a simpler alternative for customers who do not want to manage WordPress or another CMS. It includes more than 190 responsive templates, drag-and-drop editing, SSL and backups. The Business version adds e-commerce functionality and can support up to three websites.
The VPS platform is highly configurable. Entry pricing starts with 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM and 25 GB NVMe storage, while CPU, RAM and disk capacity can be increased separately. Full root access, an IP address, unlimited bandwidth, a monthly disaster-recovery snapshot and DDoS protection are included. AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora are among the available operating systems. cPanel licensing and full server management are optional extras. VPS instances can be deployed in London, Amsterdam or New York.
One of Krystal's most important recent changes is the development of Krystal Cloud. The former Katapult cloud platform was integrated into the main Krystal brand in April 2026, together with the new Ekosystem customer portal. The result is a substantially broader infrastructure-as-a-service operation rather than simply a hosting platform using cloud technology behind the scenes.
Krystal Cloud virtual machines support Linux and Windows workloads together with CPU-optimized and memory-optimized configurations. Large-memory machines are available for demanding applications, while T4 and L4 GPU resources can be attached for accelerated computing. System disks use distributed storage with three replicas, outbound bandwidth allowances are pooled between an organization's virtual machines, and DDoS protection is included.
The cloud storage portfolio includes Block Storage, File Storage and Object Storage. Additional services include offsite cloud backups and an OCI-compatible Container Registry. Private networking, virtual firewalls and DNS are integrated into the cloud environment, with load balancers and additional IPv4 addresses available when required.
The CDN is available as a relatively straightforward add-on rather than an enterprise-only service. It includes SSL, worldwide distribution, load balancing, persistent connections and DDoS protection, with several transfer allowances available according to expected traffic.
Domain Registration covers common UK and international extensions. Domains can be managed independently or combined with hosting, and certain hosting and reseller packages include a domain for the lifetime of the associated hosting subscription.
Dedicated Servers require more explanation than the other product groups. Current contractual and support terms continue to cover managed and unmanaged dedicated servers, including dedicated-server SLA provisions and management conditions. However, the former standalone dedicated-server product and public configurator are no longer part of the principal 2026 product range. Larger and more specialized infrastructure requirements now fit more naturally into VPS, Krystal Cloud or Managed Solutions.
The website is modern and responsive, but the commercial interface is primarily available in English. No full multilingual/localized storefront exists. Product pricing is principally shown in British pounds (GBP), with VAT display options for UK customers.
