📄 Editorial Review

Jolis International is a Ugandan web hosting, domain registration, and digital-services company based in Akright City near Kampala. Its operating history dates to 2006, while the current limited company was incorporated in Uganda in 2014. Joseph Abdi is associated with the business as founder and CEO, and the company operates with a relatively small team in the 2–10 employee range.

Jolis combines customer service in Uganda with hosting infrastructure in Europe, the United States, and Uganda. Its portfolio includes domain registration, clustered Linux hosting, virtual private servers, dedicated servers, SSL certificates, reseller hosting, premium technical support, website design, e-commerce development, and software services. This combination is particularly relevant for East African businesses that want regional assistance while keeping their websites and applications on internationally connected infrastructure.

The entry-level service is clustered Linux hosting, built around Linux, Nginx, MySQL, and PHP. Traffic is distributed through a load-balanced environment rather than depending entirely on one traditional shared server. Hosting accounts include email, databases, FTP access, website statistics, automatic application installation, SSL certificates, weekly off-site backups, and migration assistance.

The Unlimited package provides unrestricted website, email, and database capacity under a fair-use policy. It supports unlimited mailboxes, hosted domains, and databases, although each mailbox is restricted to 500 MB or 10,000 messages. Storage may only be used for active website and email content rather than general file archives, external backups, mirrors, or unrelated data storage.

The Heaven package uses clearly defined resource allocations, including 10,000 MB for website files, 14,000 MB for email, and 3,500 MB for databases. This structure is easier to evaluate than an unlimited plan because the available capacity is specified in advance. The Online Presence package combines hosting with website creation, payment integration, business email, and e-commerce functionality.

The shared platform supports WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, MediaWiki, phpBB, and many additional applications through QuickInstall. Customers also receive a website builder with more than 100 mobile-friendly templates. Development features include CGI/FastCGI, Ruby on Rails, Perl, Python, SSH access, scheduled cron jobs, cURL, GD, and ImageMagick.

Some of the listed software references are dated, including PHP 5 and legacy webmail applications. Customers migrating an existing application should confirm the exact PHP, database, operating-system, and extension versions available on a newly provisioned account.

Email features include POP3, SMTP, IMAP, forwarding, aliases, autoresponders, spam filtering, and browser-based webmail. Horde, SquirrelMail, and RoundCube are associated with the platform, although the presence of older applications means customers should verify which webmail systems remain active and supported.

The VPS range is divided into HDD and SSD configurations. Entry plans include one virtual processor, 4 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, and either 100 GB of SSD storage or 250 GB of HDD storage. Larger configurations reach six virtual processors, 32 GB of memory, and either 500 GB of SSD capacity or 2 TB of HDD space.

Equivalent HDD and SSD tiers have the same monthly price. SSD plans therefore provide better value for websites, databases, control panels, and other disk-intensive applications, while HDD plans remain useful when total storage capacity matters more than input/output performance.

VPS customers receive root access, one dedicated IP address, RAID 10 storage, scalable resources, private nameservers, and full control over their server environment. Apache and Nginx are available, while PowerPanel provides reboot and restoration controls. Customers may host unlimited domains, databases, mailboxes, FTP accounts, and subdomains within the processor, memory, and storage limits of the selected server.

Jolis handles cPanel account transfers and a limited number of manual migrations depending on the selected package. Migration requests should be submitted within the first 30 days. Weekly off-site backups provide an additional recovery layer, but customers remain responsible for maintaining independent copies of important data.

Two dedicated-server families are available. PerfectServers cover conventional business and enterprise configurations with HDD or SSD storage, Linux or Windows, root access, DDoS protection, an IP-based firewall, unmetered traffic, 1 Gbit/s connectivity, and as many as four IP addresses.

PerfectServer configurations range from single-processor Intel Xeon systems with 32 GB of memory to larger servers with 64 GB of RAM, multiple processors, and four storage devices. These machines are suitable for websites, databases, application hosting, virtualization, and workloads requiring exclusive hardware resources.

SuperSavers are discounted dedicated servers built mainly around older processor generations. The range includes AMD Opteron, Intel Xeon E3, older Intel Core i7, and Coffee Lake configurations. They can provide economical capacity for backups, file hosting, development environments, test systems, low-cost virtualization, and workloads that do not depend on modern processor efficiency.

Customers choosing a SuperSaver server should compare the exact processor generation and benchmark performance rather than relying only on core count, clock speed, or memory capacity. Older hardware can still perform well for storage-heavy or lightly loaded applications, but it may be less efficient for intensive databases, software compilation, high-traffic applications, or sustained computational workloads.

Domain registration is another important part of the portfolio. Jolis supports common international extensions, regional African domains, and country-code names such as .ug, .co.ug, .co.ke, .co.uk, and .africa. Domain accounts include DNS management, domain locking, renewal controls, and optional registration privacy.

The company also provides standard and wildcard SSL certificates, white-label reseller accounts, and website-development services. Resellers receive a separate management panel, priority assistance, and personal account support. Reseller consulting is available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and German.

The main website and ordering interface operate in English only. No multi-language or localized ordering interface exists, although several currencies are supported for product pricing and account billing.

The storefront has a dated visual design, dense navigation, and several older interface elements. The main hosting, VPS, dedicated-server, domain, and SSL services remain accessible, but parts of the catalog are unreliable. The Premium Support and Website Design sections currently return gateway errors, while the legacy website option also fails to load.

Company size figures vary between approximately 20,000 customers and 50,000 managed domains in one section, while the clustered-hosting information refers to more than 100,000 hosted domains. These figures provide a general indication of operating scale but should not be treated as a precise current customer count.
