📄 Editorial Review
Intersoft Web Services Limited is a long-established Hong Kong telecommunications and internet services company operating since 1999. The business primarily serves small and medium-sized companies and individual customers that need locally managed hosting, email and communications services. Its customer base has exceeded 5,000 users, and the organization has operated with an estimated local workforce of approximately 16–25 employees. The operation is divided between two related companies. Intersoft Web Services Limited handles telecommunications and internet services, while Intersoft Computer System Limited focuses on system development and network equipment management. The company holds a Hong Kong telecommunications license and has also maintained relationships with Microsoft and the Hong Kong domain-name registration ecosystem.
Intersoft follows a traditional Hong Kong business-services model rather than a modern cloud infrastructure approach. Its portfolio includes Windows shared hosting, business email hosting, domain registration, China–Hong Kong email routing, internet fax, fax broadcasting, bulk SMS and SMS API connectivity. VPS hosting, scalable cloud servers, dedicated servers, reseller packages and colocation are not part of the active retail portfolio.
The Windows web hosting range consists of five packages covering small company websites, email-based business operations and older Windows applications. The plans combine website storage, email capacity, unlimited stated data transfer, individual FTP accounts, website statistics, spam filtering, virus protection and access to the WCP account-management system.
The smallest package provides 100 MB of website storage and one mailbox. The largest package increases the allowance to 5 GB of website storage, 50 mailboxes and 15 FTP accounts. Storage limits are modest by present-day standards, but the plans can still accommodate lightweight company websites and established applications with limited media requirements.
The supported development environment is heavily focused on legacy Microsoft and scripting technologies. Available components include ASP, ASP.NET 1.1, ASP.NET 2.0, ASP.NET 3.5, ASP.NET AJAX, FastCGI, CGI, Perl, PHP 4, PHP 5, Microsoft Access through ODBC, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server. This configuration can remain useful for organizations maintaining older custom applications, although it is not suitable for projects requiring current PHP releases, contemporary .NET runtimes or modern development frameworks.
Customers planning to migrate an existing application should confirm the precise runtime versions, database compatibility, TLS configuration and supported application components before transferring production workloads.
Business email hosting is available independently of the website packages. The plans include configurations for 5, 10, 20, 30 or 50 mailboxes, with 1 GB assigned to each standard mailbox. Email accounts support POP3, IMAP, webmail, encrypted POP and SMTP connections, a dedicated SMTP port, aliases, automatic replies, spam filtering and virus protection.
Larger 5 GB and 10 GB mailboxes can be added for an additional monthly fee. Optional mailbox backup is also available. The service suits smaller businesses that want domain-based email accounts without operating their own mail server.
One of Intersoft’s more distinctive services is China–Hong Kong Smart Email. The system automatically selects an appropriate dedicated route for email exchanged between Hong Kong and mainland China. It is intended to reduce delayed messages, connection interruptions, rejected mail and slow attachment transfers between offices on opposite sides of the border.
The China-oriented mail routing service is included with web hosting and email hosting accounts without an additional charge. This makes Intersoft particularly relevant to Hong Kong companies that regularly exchange messages and large files with employees, suppliers or branches in mainland China.
The SpeedFax platform replaces a conventional fax machine and telephone line with a dedicated fax number connected to email and a browser interface. Customers can send and receive faxes through the internet, forward messages from a web portal and retain received documents online for 60 days.
SpeedFax includes junk-fax filtering, transmission reports and support for TIF, PDF and PNG files. The system also supports color faxing and Super G3 transmission speeds of up to 33.6 Kbps.
A separate Fax Broadcasting service supports large-scale fax distribution without requiring fax hardware, dedicated telephone lines or locally installed broadcasting software. It can transmit thousands of pages per hour, schedule campaigns, retry busy numbers and process recipient lists against opt-out requirements associated with Hong Kong’s Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance.
The SpeedSMS platform provides browser-based bulk SMS delivery with message scheduling, templates, delivery reports, recipient replies and Unicode support. It can handle Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese and other languages.
A standard message can contain up to 160 English characters or 70 Chinese and other non-English characters. Longer messages can be transmitted as concatenated SMS segments. SOAP and HTTP APIs are available for businesses integrating SMS delivery into authentication systems, membership platforms, retail applications, school systems and internal software.
Domain registration is offered as a complementary service. Available extensions include .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .com.hk, .org.hk, .edu.hk, .net.hk, .idv.hk and .hk. Chargeable administrative services include domain parking, ownership changes, DNS modifications and subdomain configuration.
The company website uses an older fixed-width, image-heavy layout and is not well suited to current mobile screens. Most service information is written in Traditional Chinese, and a complete English-language ordering environment does not exist. The webmail interface nevertheless includes selectable languages and themes.
The visual presentation and underlying hosting specifications place Intersoft firmly in the traditional hosting era. This does not prevent the services from working for established local businesses, but customers expecting automated deployment, cloud scaling or a modern self-service experience will find the platform limited.
