*📜 Plan description
Separate Email Address is an additional mailbox service priced at NZ$3 per month for an address with its own username and password. The mailbox has a 2000 MB storage limit; automatic quota notices are sent when usage reaches 80 percent and 100 percent. Customers who do not need a separate mailbox can instead have up to five Inspire Net email addresses forwarded to an existing email address at no extra cost. The paid mailbox can be accessed using POP3, IMAP or webmail, and outgoing mail uses Inspire Net's SMTP service. Authenticated SMTP can be enabled for customers who use the mailbox from different Internet connections, with securemail.inspire.net.nz supporting ports 25, 465 or 587.
Inspire Net provides webmail access for reading and replying to messages from a browser and allows email to be configured on mobile devices. Spam filtering is included and can be adjusted through multiple levels, from no filtering through lightweight, medium and high filtering; new mailboxes use medium filtering by default. Virus checking and spam handling settings can be managed through the account area. Customers are responsible for keeping copies of email they want to retain. Individual messages, groups of messages and complete folders can be downloaded from webmail, while IMAP backup behavior depends on the mail client configuration. Support is available by email, helpdesk and telephone, including the toll-free support line. Incoming POP3 service uses pop3.inspire.net.nz and IMAP uses imap.inspire.net.nz, while the standard outgoing server is smtp.inspire.net.nz. Email addresses can contain up to 32 characters, subject to normal character restrictions, and the provider can assist with setup on computers and mobile devices. The anti-spam service tags or filters unwanted mail using a combination of open-source and commercial tools, and customers can choose whether spam is tagged, moved or deleted. Unsolicited commercial email is prohibited and accounts can be suspended for spam-related abuse.

📄 Editorial Review
Inspire Net is a New Zealand-owned Internet service provider and hosting company based in Palmerston North. The business began in 1998, initially operating from a garage, and founder James Watts remains Founder & CEO. More than 26 years later, Inspire Net has developed into a regional telecommunications provider with 35+ local staff, combining Internet connectivity, web hosting, domains, VoIP and network infrastructure services.Hosting is only one part of the company’s wider technical operation. Inspire Net builds and operates fibre infrastructure around Palmerston North and Tararua and also provides wireless broadband, DSL, wholesale fibre connectivity and business Internet services. This gives its hosting operation direct access to experienced networking staff and locally operated infrastructure rather than functioning as a simple hosting reseller.
The standard web hosting range is compact and easy to understand. Small Linux is the entry shared-hosting package with 1 GB of storage, 1 TB of monthly data transfer and nightly backups retained for seven days. Large Linux increases storage to 10 GB, monthly transfer to 2.5 TB and backup retention to 30 days. Both packages use a conventional Linux, Apache, PHP and database environment suitable for business websites, content-management systems and custom PHP applications.
Customers requiring more resources can use Premium Linux or Windows Hosting, which is configured individually. It includes the capabilities of the Large package while allowing significantly more storage, unrestricted monthly transfer and fewer customer websites per server. Dedicated servers are also available as custom solutions rather than through a fixed catalog of predefined hardware configurations.
The shared hosting platform runs Debian GNU/Linux 12 64-bit, Apache HTTPD 2.4 and MariaDB 10. PHP is available through PHP-FPM for versions 8.1 through 8.4, while PHP 7.4 remains available through mod_php. Supported components include MySQLi, PDO, SQLite PDO, cURL, FFmpeg, GD and ImageMagick, providing a suitable environment for WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and many traditional PHP applications.
Every hosting package includes AWStats website statistics. Files can be transferred through FTP, FTPS or SFTP, and databases can be administered using phpMyAdmin. Additional established server modules can also be considered when a website has a specific technical requirement.
Backups are one of the stronger elements of the shared-hosting service. Small Linux receives nightly backups with seven-day retention, while Large Linux receives nightly backups with 30-day retention. SSL support is available, and a standard SSL certificate is included with the current hosting service. Configurations requiring a dedicated IP address or more specialized SSL arrangements may involve additional annual costs.
Domain services are closely integrated with hosting. Inspire Net is an official New Zealand domain registrar and handles extensions including .nz, .co.nz, .net.nz, .org.nz, .gen.nz, .school.nz, .ac.nz, .maori.nz and .geek.nz, together with international extensions such as .com, .net and .org. Additional TLDs can be arranged when required, and a domain does not need to be transferred to Inspire Net simply to use its hosting.
DNS administration is handled directly by the company. Customers can request DNS changes through domains@inspire, while basic email forwarding and MX-record configuration can also be arranged without an additional charge. This approach works particularly well for organizations that prefer direct technical assistance instead of managing every DNS setting through a self-service hosting panel.
Inspire Net also provides server colocation for organizations that want to own and control their physical hardware while connecting it to Inspire Net’s network environment. Customers remain responsible for maintaining and insuring their colocated equipment.
Local nonprofit and community organizations can potentially receive sponsored web hosting, although annual domain-registration charges still apply.
The company’s wider portfolio includes residential and business fibre, rural wireless broadband, DSL, business HyperFibre, VoIP telephone service and virtual PBX solutions. There is no standardized standalone VPS, reseller-hosting or hyperscale-style cloud-server range within the normal hosting portfolio.
The website operates in English and services are priced for the New Zealand market in NZD. No multi-language/localized version exists.
