The UK2 hosting history goes back to 1998, while the wider THG technology platform started in 2004. UK2 was acquired by THG in 2017 and later became part of the THG Ingenuity Cloud Services infrastructure business.

This is not mainly a simple budget shared-hosting company. Ingenuity Cloud Services is much stronger in infrastructure-oriented services such as SSD VPS / virtual servers, global colocation, cloud infrastructure, bandwidth-heavy hosting, DDoS mitigation, managed support, shared hosting, email hosting, website builder tools, and ecommerce infrastructure through the THG Commerce Platform. Their scale is much larger than a small independent host, with references to 35+ data centers, 130,000+ customers worldwide, 10,000+ virtualized servers, and a 35Tbps+ network capacity.

A very important current point is the company’s bare metal exit. As of the March 18, 2026 bare metal termination notice, Ingenuity Cloud Services made the strategic decision to leave the bare metal dedicated server market entirely.
